Requirements

• Education: 4 -year degree preferred, but not required.
• Experience: Education, childcare, or community-based experience is helpful but not required.
• Passion : A desire to support and empower individuals with disabilities is required.
• Skills : Strong communication, problem-solving abilities, and flexibility to support diverse needs.
• Other Requirements: Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Heart, attitude, and willingness to learn matter most.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate on Student Learning: Support lesson planning and activities aligned with Individualized Education Program goals.
• Create Community-Based Learning Experiences: Facilitate hands-on learning opportunities inside and outside the classroom. Support students as they get involved in local activities, events, and opportunities across Columbus and beyond.
• Provide Consistent Student Support: Follow training and behavioral support plans to ensure student safety and engagement.
• Maintain a Safe and Supportive Environment: Help create structured, positive spaces that promote learning and growth.
• Build Meaningful Relationships: Partner with students, families, school staff, and the Ability Matters team to strengthen support systems.
• Personalized Care & Support: Provide person-centered assistance tailored to each individual’s needs. Encourage independence, self-advocacy, and belonging.
