About The Position

Pottsgrove is seeking a Registered Behavior Technician for an anticipated opening at TBD School. The RBT position provides behavioral support to teachers ensuring students become productive in all endeavors. Summary : The Registered Behavior Technician will provide intensive behavior support services to students in-district. The RBT will work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to implement behavior support plans for students that require consistent and significant behavioral support during the school day. The Registered Behavior Technician will meet all of the requirements of RBT certification. This is not an instructional support position, although the RBT may provide some instructional support to students as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum of high school diploma as well as formal training in theories of Applied Behavioral Analysis, or Behavioral Support Interventions and successful completion of the Registered Behavior Technician training course and examination for certification.
  • A minimum of 2 years previous experience working with students who require behavior support.
  • Registered Behavior Technician certification, as evidenced by completion of the RBT training course and examination, as well as participation in the district provided crisis intervention training.
  • Ability to work as a member of a cohesive team
  • Ability to lead/model behavior support strategies for others
  • Ability to take and respond to direction of superiors
  • Ability to follow and practice policies related to proper procedures for restraint and seclusion
  • Remain physically fit in order to maintain capability to physically intervene when students are unsafe, and maintain physical requirements listed under essential duties.
  • Must be flexible, creative and problem solving oriented in approach.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm, as well as an ability to work with students of all ages.
  • Ability to give attention to detail and strong communication skills.
  • Must have current Act 34, 151 & 114 Clearances

Responsibilities

  • Understand and apply the basic principles of ABA in classroom settings as directed.
  • Assess student needs and provide interventions to redirect behavior
  • Collect and submit data needed for Functional Behavioral Assessments and Possitive Behavior Intervention Plans (PBSP) and ongoing monitoring of interventions and PBSP's.
  • Implement PBPS's to affect behavior changes
  • Regularly review and remain well-versed in a multitude of PBSP's in order to implement the plans and monitor plans for multiple students, at the same time
  • Provide direct consultation to the BCBA, specific to analysis of data and recommendations for modifications or revisions to PBSP's.
  • Model implementation of PBSP's for paraprofessionals and staff
  • When required, provide physical intervention for students demonstrating unsafe behaviors
  • Perform and document the district approved restraint and seclusion methods; as well as participate in yearly crisis intervention training provided by the district.
  • Participate as a member of the school safety team
  • Attend regular supervision meetings with the BCBA and other RBTs
  • Maintain consistency of PBSP's by communicating and providing input to teachers and other support staff
  • Work with multiple students, as assigned by the administration and/or BCBA.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, bend, use stairs, get up and down from off the floor, all with ease. Job will be physically demanding at times.
