About The Position

The RBT is a credentialed paraprofessional who assists in the implementation of behavior intervention to patients on the Specialized Needs Unit (SNU). Demonstrates a basic understanding of key ABA concepts and techniques; Monitor patient progress; communicating information regarding patients behavior to other members of treatment team; May assist in family and caregiver training; Assesses and reports on behavior program needs regarding materials, staff education, and program curriculum; Participates in treatment planning: (a) helps identify patient problems, needs, and strengths; b) suggests modifications to treatment plan based on observations of patient's behavior; c) provides input into discharge planning; Assists Mental Health Technicians (MHTs) in implementing patient treatment plans using the behavior skills training approach: 1) Describe the interventions 2) Demonstrate the interventions 3) Have the MHT demonstrate the intervention 4) Provide feedback in a positive manner; Encourages and facilitates patients' participation in therapeutic activities; Supervises patients to ensure their safety and their involvement in treatment; Provides input during shift report; Accompanies and transports patients as assigned; Orients new patients to unit, program, and setting; Assists patients in carrying out activities of daily living, when congruent with the patients' treatment plan and needs, age, and developmental level; Maintains a safe, orderly, and therapeutic physical environment for patients; Participates in maintaining the therapeutic setting on the unit, enforces the CPI system or other methods of behavior management; Maintains patient, program, department, and related documentation; Carries out clerical and administrative assignment to support patient care and department and organization operations.

Requirements

  • RBT certification from the BACB (Behavior Analyst Certification Board) required
  • Minimum one (1) year experience working with persons with developmental/intellectual disabilities
