About The Position

The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) provides direct behavioral support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a group home environment. Under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), the RBT implements individualized behavior intervention plans, assists with daily living activities, and promotes community integration to enhance residents’ independence and quality of life.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; some positions may prefer or require a bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Education, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Current RBT certification from the BACB (or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe; some employers offer paid training).
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and implementing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in data collection and documentation.
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and car insurance.
  • Ability to pass criminal background checks, drug screenings, and maintain a clean driving record.

  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and implementing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Implement behavior support strategies as specified in individualized behavior plans developed by the BCBA.
  • Provide direct support and supervision to residents in the group home and during community outings.
  • Assist residents with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, medication administration, and transportation to appointments.
  • Accurately observe, collect, and document data on resident behaviors and progress.
  • Encourage and facilitate participation in recreational and community activities.
  • Collaborate with BCBAs, other RBTs, and the residents’ support networks to ensure consistent and effective implementation of behavior plans.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines set by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
