About The Position

The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) is a specially trained Direct Support Professional (DSP) responsible for implementing individualized behavior intervention plans designed to teach new skills, reduce challenging behaviors, and promote independence for youth.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds without assistance.
  • Ability to sit, squat, crouch and stand for elongated periods of time
  • Ability to lift arms over head in upward reaching motion.
  • Ability to walk up and downstairs up to several times per day.
  • Ability to provide crisis intervention including physical restraints. Restraints may include resistive force, bending, squatting, kneeling, lying down, and holding youth in order to maintain safety.
  • Valid driver’s license and auto insurance, free from major infractions and deemed acceptable to our insurance carrier.
  • Strong attention to detail for accurate data collection
  • Compassionate, patient, and youth-centered approaches.
  • Ability to follow instructions and accept feedback.
  • Strong communication, patience, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills to work with children and young adults with developmental disabilities.
  • Strong listening skills
  • Effective problem-solving skills.
  • Effective time management.
  • Must interact and work well with others in a various fast-changing environments and situations.
  • Must be able to use technology to support service documentation.

Nice To Haves

  • College and experience preferred
  • Preferred active RBT certification (RBT training will be provided)
  • Experience working with developmentally disabled individuals with challenging behaviors

Responsibilities

  • Implement Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy behavior plans
  • Provide 1:1 direct services
  • Attend team meetings
  • Implement crisis intervention when necessary
  • Maintain a safe and supportive learning environment
  • Provide constant supervision and safety of the individuals
  • Complete adequate and necessary documentation during the shift, including reading and signing all necessary documentation, thoroughly and on time
  • Promote social independence and community involvement
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors
  • Adhere to all rules, regulations, policies and procedures
  • Remain in compliance with all Elmcrest and oversight agency trainings
  • Assist with individual’s personal care (when necessary).
  • Passing of meds (when applicable).
  • May need to transport individuals in agency vehicles.
  • Manage individual’s behaviors according to approved and appropriate techniques, including physical intervention when necessary (TCI).
  • Assist individuals with routine.
