About The Position

The responsibilities of the Registered Nurse include patient preparation, assisting the physician with procedures and minor surgeries, performing various diagnostic tests, and providing patient education in the clinic. The nurse maintains equipment and acts as a liaison between the physician and all outside agencies, including hospitals, nursing homes, DME companies, pharmacies, HMOs, and other physician’s offices, as well as with the patient. The role also supports other medical staff members as necessary to maintain patient flow.

Requirements

• Current Arkansas License.
• Degree from an accredited institution.
• CPR Certified.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Previous Clinical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists physician during procedures as directed, and cleans up afterwards in a timely manner.
• Performs any diagnostic test quickly and accurately and documents results in patient’s chart.
• Thoroughly explains the nature of exam, tests, or treatment to the patient and maintains accurate records for follow-up of test results.
• Performs patient education deemed by physician.
• Makes appropriate arrangements for follow up and/or continuing care such as outpatient procedures.
• Receives and organizes medical samples daily, maintains inventory of medical supplies and submits requests in writing to the clinic administrator.
• Administers injections or medications using appropriate technique as ordered by physician and maintains accurate records of each per regulatory guidelines.
• Screens patient telephone calls, returns messages, reports test results, calls in orders and prescriptions and documents accurately in patient’s chart.
• Assists other staff members as needed to ensure smooth patient flow.
• Obtains pre-authorizations necessary for physician to conduct exam or procedure.
• Escorts patient to exam room, accurately records vital signs, height and weight, brief history and current medications.
• Replaces table paper, cleans and stocks exam rooms as needed.
• Ensures equipment is clean and/or sterile for the physician's use.
• Follows all policies and procedures regarding safety and infection control per guidelines.
