About The Position

The Regional Summer School Program is seeking Spanish Teachers for Grades 7-8 at Gates Chili High School. This seasonal position involves teaching remedial Spanish courses to middle school students, focusing on meeting New York State Learning Standards and preparing students for assessments. The role requires commitment to the entire summer schedule, including lesson planning, classroom management, and assessment of student performance.

Requirements

• School experience in teaching Spanish.
• NYS Teacher Certification appropriate for the position.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Experience working with middle school students.

Nice To Haves

• Previous middle school teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach Grade 7 remedial Spanish for a four-week course.
• Teach Grade 8 remedial Spanish for high school credit over a six-week course.
• Plan and teach lessons daily during the summer schedule.
• Create and administer local examinations/assessments for the course.
• Assess student performance and assign numerical grades.
• Manage the classroom and maintain communication with students' homes.
• Ensure IEPs are met for students with disabilities, including test accommodations and classroom modifications.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Regional Summer School site principal.
