About The Position

The Regional Summer School Program is seeking Science Teachers for Grades 7-8 at Gates Chili High School. The role involves teaching remedial science courses during the summer session, adhering to New York State Learning Standards, and collaborating with a Math teacher to deliver effective lessons. The position requires commitment to the entire program duration and involves assessment and classroom management responsibilities.

Requirements

• Previous middle school teaching experience preferred.
• Appropriate NYS Teacher Certification required.

Responsibilities

• Co-plan and co-teach lessons daily with the Math teacher.
• Teach to NYS Learning Standards using BOCES Regional Summer School curriculum.
• Create and administer local examinations/assessments for the course.
• Bring own non-consumable materials such as books, stapler, ruler, and desk supplies.
• Assess student performance and assign numerical grades.
• Manage the classroom and maintain home contact.
• Ensure IEPs are met for students with disabilities, particularly regarding test accommodations and reasonable classroom modifications.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Regional Summer School site principal.
