About The Position

This position involves specialized work in recreation and leisure services, focusing on activities of average difficulty at an assigned recreation area. The employee, under general supervision, is responsible for leading, supervising, and officiating various sports, games, and programs. They also assist with administrative procedures related to the design and conduct of recreation programs. The role may involve responsibility for a City of Orlando-wide program and working across multiple centers. The specialist is expected to exercise initiative and independent judgment in planning and conducting playground or center activities for all ages. Work is reviewed by a Regional Center Supervisor through periodic observation and submitted reports. The role requires outdoor work, exposing the employee to weather conditions including heat, and demands work at night and on weekends. This position is distinct from a regular Recreation Specialist as it is assigned to a regional center and the employee serves as an assistant supervisor.

Requirements

High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate
Two (2) years experience in organized recreation, leisure services, school-based or youth development program experience
Valid Florida Driver's License required at the time of application
Polygraph and criminal background check required
