We are looking for a Regional Property Leader in Los Angeles, California. Your Team Allianz Commercial (AzC) specializes in commercial property & casualty insurance for the most complex and challenging risk exposures in more than 200 countries and territories. The Impact You Will Have As a Senior Underwriting Team Lead, you will be instrumental in leading a team of senior underwriters and team leads to drive the underwriting of profitable new and renewal business, ensuring alignment with Line of Business (LoB) targets both regionally and globally. You will take ownership of large and critical accounts, negotiating participation, pricing, and terms with major clients, while fostering strong relationships with brokers and clients. Your leadership will be key in managing and developing your team, serving as a referral point for other underwriters, and effectively navigating the global matrix environment.

Requirements

  • Significant experience in underwriting profitable business within LoB, with specialized expertise in sub-LoB products and portfolio.
  • Proven track record in underwriting profitable business with a minimum of 11+ years of experience.
  • Expertise in risk assessment and management, pricing, and market management.
  • In-depth knowledge of regional and local LoB insurance markets and competitor landscape.
  • Strong analytical skills, communication and presentation abilities, and influencing skills to motivate others.
  • Preferably a degree in Economics, Finance, Insurance Management, or Business Administration, along with professional insurance qualifications (e.g., CII).
  • Experience working in a complex, global matrix organization.
  • A basic understanding of artificial intelligence (AI) and its potential applications in business is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Managing and supervising a team of underwriters, delegating tasks to achieve overall results, and acting as a point of referral and escalation for issues.
  • Leading the development and execution of regional underwriting strategy for LoB, managing referrals, and re-underwriting complex business as necessary.
  • Underwriting large and critical new and renewal accounts to meet top and bottom line targets, negotiating terms with brokers, and managing capacity proactively.
  • Ensuring underwriting compliance with governance frameworks, achieving contract certainty, and utilizing global pricing tools effectively.
  • Supporting market management initiatives, driving acquisition of new business, and retaining existing business through client and producer negotiations.
  • Representing AGCS positively in the market, fostering strong relationships with key producers, clients, and stakeholders.
