About The Position

Regional Portfolio Management Lead candidates are experienced Portfolio Managers who have a deep understanding of commercial credit policy and processes. They must possess strong communication and organizational skills as well as a passion and ability for developing talent. Their expertise will be leveraged to promote underwriting and portfolio management excellence and train new talent across their region. The incumbent will be responsible for oversight of the commercial loan portfolio for the Gulf Coast region. They will utilize their knowledge of commercial credit and First Horizon’s RM/PM channel approach to deliver commercial credit training to new Credit Analysts in the region. They must have the ability to lead training on commercial credit fundamentals and First Horizon’s commercial lending policy, processes, and procedures and may have the opportunity to contribute to the development of training content. The incumbent will provide portfolio management leadership support to Market/LOB leaders that do not have a Portfolio Management Team Lead, and they will represent the region in internal conversations on commercial lending initiatives.

Requirements

  • Minimum 6 to 8 years of commercial underwriting and portfolio management experience
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent in work experience) required.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret financial reports and legal documents; performs simple to complex calculations; effectively researches, analyzes and evaluates information to make decisions, solve problems and achieve goals.
  • Ability to read and listen, understand and communicate information and ideas in a clear and understandable manner, both orally and in writing with senior executives, business unit management and staff, state and federal regulators and officials and significant business partners
  • Ability to facilitate training and effectively teach commercial credit fundamentals.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong computer skills required with the following programs: Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and highly proficient skills with Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors portfolio management and asset quality reports and protocol for the region, keeping Regional President and Market/LOB leaders apprised of current metrics and performance.
  • Provides portfolio management leadership support to Market/LOB teams with no PM Team Lead. This support includes partnering with Market/LOB leaders on talent acquisition and onboarding for new Portfolio Managers and Credit Analysts and assisting with performance management of existing PMs and CAs.
  • Leads Market Asset Quality Meetings for Markets/LOBs with no PM Team Lead.
  • Leads resolution of Regional commercial lending workflow management & business continuity needs.
  • Leads the new hire training curriculum for new Credit Analysts in the Region, providing individual coaching and training support to ensure comprehension of commercial credit fundamentals and First Horizon’s commercial lending process and risk appetite.
  • Engages with peer Regional Portfolio Management Leads to assemble and train learning cohorts of recently hired Credit Analysts.
  • Engages in regular dialogue with the Regional Bank’s Portfolio Management Strategy Officer, receiving direction and insight on strategic priorities and initiatives.
  • Contributes to the development and delivery of training and initiatives to meet business, credit, and portfolio management objectives.
