About The Position

Responsible for the overall coordination and implementation of the hospital's orthopedic and urology-related programs . This position guides orthopedic and urology patients and their families through the program(s) from preoperative education through the continuum of care. This role involves interacting with patients, families, physicians, and various hospital departments including surgery, rehabilitation, occupational therapy, nursing, case management, marketing, and home health. In addition, this position collects and presents data to the orthopedic governance committee and other leadership groups. Additionally, this role develops, facilitates, and monitors performance metrics to ensure compliance with certification requirements. Responsibilities for this role include collaborating with orthopedic subspecialty surgeons and other teams to assist with data collection and community outreach.

Requirements

  • Associate's of Nursing [Required]
  • 1 orthopedic nursing experience [Required]
  • 1 project management and/or process improvement of orthopedic related experience [Required]
  • Registered Nurse (RN) [Required]
  • Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's of Nursing [Preferred]
  • Certified Orthopaedic Nurse (ONC) [Preferred]

Responsibilities

  • Works with the Regional Orthopedic Institute team to develop and review orthopedic clinical policies and procedures.
  • Develops patient education and community outreach materials in collaboration with marketing to inform the community and increase market share.
  • Monitors performance metrics and ensures compliance with activities required to achieve and maintain practice-specific certifications.
  • Conducts daily rounds on in-patients with physicians to ensure desired patient outcomes and coordinates care issues with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Collaborates with case management on post-op discharge planning and strategies to decrease length of stay. Partners with nursing to develop strategies to improve Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) scores and meet organizational goals.
  • Works with clinical educators and nursing staff to ensure competency and understanding of orthopedic patient needs.
