About The Position

DSG is seeking a Regional Operations Manager for our Minnesota region. As a Regional Operations Manager, you will be responsible for leading the inventory, logistics, and distribution operations in Minnesota. You will direct the operations function for all of the region's branches aligned with corporate business growth, financial objectives, and organizational strategies, including safety, quality, distribution, and inventory management. The Regional Operations Manager will be an integral member of the regional leadership team and a key sponsor of regional strategic objectives, reporting directly to the Regional General Manager. Standard work includes mentoring, inspiring, training, and coaching individuals throughout multiple levels of the organization. This role requires frequent travel at approximately 50% of the time.  At DSG, we are dedicated to building futures one job at a time. Requirements

  • 5 years of experience providing operational leadership in operations, distribution, logistics or purchasing in a distribution company.
  • Strong business knowledge and experience, with the ability to provide reports and analysis of financial and operational position to forecast, develop and implement strategic plans within the context of the larger picture.
  • Excellent people skills, with an ability to partner with a dynamic leadership team.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of management, financial analysis, project management, and personnel management.
  • Skills in the planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating of a wide variety of activities; developing implementing and communicating policies and procedures for a large organization; analyzing data, making sound recommendations and adopting effective causes of action, working tactfully with all levels of the organization.
  • Previous accountability experience for departmental/company P&L with demonstrated experience in profitability management.
  • [Is] adaptable and able to multi-task; can work within an ambiguous, fast-moving work environment while also driving toward clarity and solutions.
  • Integrity, credibility, a sensible risk-taking approach, proactive leadership mentality, accountability, adaptability, and possesses a forward-thinking, strategic mindset.
  • A valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic planning and execution of initiatives to enhance profitability, productivity and efficiency throughout the region’s branch operations
  • Develop and monitor KPI’s and lead the regional branches toward achieving competitive strengths in inventory management and accuracy, timely and efficient receiving, shipping and delivery practices
  • Facilitate leveraging best practices across the region and organization including warehouse management systems, truck routing software and fleet management
  • Manage logistics and outbound transportation processes for all locations throughout a region
  • Develop and drive safety policy and procedures in a region.
  • Implement improved processes and management methods to generate higher ROI and workflow optimization, within individual warehouses and across multiple warehouses
  • Promote a “Right the First Time” mentality throughout the region
  • Provide recommendations on capital expenditure projects that support quality and cost improvements, as well as business objectives of the facilities
  • Interact regularly with the regional leadership team, the VP of Operations and individual department heads to ensure that the regions operational priorities are aligned with overall company direction
  • Continually investigate and introduce process improvement measures, while making decisions about enhancing value, service, effectiveness and profitability
  • Assist with the development of regional operational policies and practices
  • Assess and assist in upgrading the regional operations talent base to achieve growth and meet market needs
  • Plan, prepare, control, monitor and forecast regions direct and/or indirect budgets
  • Collaborate with the regional leadership team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and personnel designed to accommodate rapid growth objectives for the company
  • Foster a corporate culture that promotes ethical practices, customer focus, and service while driving individual accountability and integrity
  • Analyze current and future trends in the distribution industry and accurately assesses functional responsibilities, competitive strengths, and vulnerabilities to maintain a competitive position within the industry
  • Take accountability for reaching the region’s financial targets, including but not limited to, revenue, gross margin, and EBITDA
  • Manage employee performance by establishing clear goals and expectations, tracking progress against goals, ensuring timely feedback, and addressing performance challenges in a prompt and professional manner
  • Assure protection for the assets of the business through internal control, internal auditing, and proper insurance coverage
  • Lead the continuous improvement of the customer experience through programs and initiatives to reduce errors, provide on-time delivery, and exceed customer quality expectations
  • Drive compliance toward aesthetically pleasing warehouse space, both indoors and outdoors, at all locations
  • Identify, record and reallocate underutilized or unused distribution assets including vehicles, racking or material handling equipment
