About The Position

The Regional Operations Manager for Parks and Recreation is responsible for assisting in the direction of recreational and maintenance activities across one of five operational regions within the Department of Parks and Recreation. This role involves overseeing park operations, including grounds maintenance, recreation operations, and golf course management, while ensuring effective coordination with other departments and public agencies. The position requires a thorough understanding of departmental objectives and policies to effectively plan, organize, and evaluate the work of the region.

Requirements

• Three years of experience at the level of Regional Park Superintendent II or higher, supervising the overall operation of a multiple use regional park; or five years of experience managing recreation programs for a population of 50,000 or more.
• A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation.

Responsibilities

• Assist in directing recreational and maintenance activities in an operational region.
• Support the Assistant Director in developing and implementing public service, financial, and administrative objectives and policies.
• Prepare and control a regional budget, assign staff and resources, and monitor private contractors.
• Coordinate regional activities with other organizational units and public agencies to fulfill program requirements.
• Maintain effective relations with public agencies and promote participation in parks and recreation programs.
• Represent the department at meetings with community groups to discuss park maintenance and service improvements.
