This is an individual contributor role, and travel is 50-60%, sometimes more. This role is not directly responsible for the region. This is a support role focused on Operations (Warehouse + Transportation) involving working closely with Operations Leaders at our DC's, involving a lot of training and coaching. The Regional Director of Operations is responsible for supporting Vistar Retail and Green Rabbit Operating Companies (OpCos) assigned, with proper management to include Warehouse, Transportation and Facilities. The Regional Director of Operations is responsible for supporting all staff members; achieving corporate goals as established by the senior management team, and ensuring corporate profitability. Functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and perform any duty assigned to best serve the company. Initial focus will be to support all strategic company initiatives in Warehouse and Transportation, with an emphasis on follow up on Best Practices associated with region Standard Operating Procedures. Position supports new facility setup, expansions, and organization of facility moves. This person will act almost as an internal auditor, giving both positive and constructive feedback.

  • Analyze monthly financial and operational results. Support development and reporting of budgets for the Operations Department on a yearly basis and monitor monthly. Support OpCos with forecasting future results.
  • Solve operational problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where minimal standardization exists.
  • Improve operational strategies and processes based upon knowledge of the food distribution industry. Review and analyze business processes and implement change.
  • Plan with the OPCOs for needs to replace and procure new Portable Material Handling Equipment (PMHE) and coordinate forecasting and budgeting with corporate finance.
  • Maintain and analyze Ecommerce data for Operational Support. Includes volume and analytical metrics, as well as individual SKU information.
  • Operational point of contact for Customer Support Managers. Coordinate with the OPCOs in executing ongoing customer requirements, special programs and onboarding new customers.
  • Create ad-hoc reports to help Customer Service communicate program activities to customers.
  • Assist with facility moves through planning and recruitment of outside help. Provide feedback to performance management process for operations staff members. Demonstrate effective training and support for assigned OpCos.
  • Assist Sales and Finance in quoting new business opportunities for small parcel. Includes freight, packaging, and VAS if applicable.
  • Interdepartmental collaboration to enforce Routing Guide to vendors.
  • Inbound SKU evaluation for UPC accuracy and creating of UPC's for VAS kit items.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 6 - 10 years experience in operations, warehousing and logistics in automation environment
  • 3 - 5 years people management experience
  • Strong communication skills to work with staff at all levels across the business
  • Ability to travel 50-60%, sometimes more, based on business needs

  • Bachelors degree in Supply Chain, Operations, or closely related
  • Experience within the food distribution/foodservice industry preferred
