Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in geology, mining, or related engineering/technical degree and/or equivalent proven work experience in the field.
  • 3-5 years of progressive technical responsibility in a mining environment.
  • Strong practical experience with Underground Mining Techniques (Room & Pillar preferred) and a solid understanding of Surface Mining Techniques.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a mine environment and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Strong computer skills with various general and specialized technical software packages.

Nice To Haves

  • BS/MS in Mining Engineering or Geology and/or PE Registration.
  • 4-6 years of previous underground and/or above-ground mining and blasting experience.
  • Previous leadership or supervision experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and active involvement in LNA Safety programs.
  • Ensure consistent application of the highest level of safety into design and plans.
  • Lead the development of regional mine plans and ensure consistent application of Lhoist mine planning standards.
  • Provide training and support to individual sites in the rollout and use of Lhoist standards, tools, and programs.
  • Lead the Quarry/Mine Mining Team in the development and implementation of mine plans/schedules.
  • Ensure revisions to mine plans are completed and updated on a timely basis.
  • Lead the development and revision of Geological, As-built, QC, and other deposit computer models.
  • Track performance and compliance of quarry/mine operations team to published mine plans.
  • Gather, sort, and analyze various sources of information to determine specific production and performance information.
  • Develop safe, technically competent, economically sound design documents, programs, cost models, and studies.
  • Lead the development of project scope and conduct preliminary planning.
  • Support the CAPEX process through technical and financial evaluations.
  • Coordinate and conduct routine technical inspections, audits, review meetings, and work sessions at various quarries and mines.
  • Provide on-site support, technical expertise, or assistance as requested by the sites or quarries.
