About The Position

The Regional Manager is responsible for the performance of all Programs and Services in Santa Barbara County. This position is responsible for supporting our program teams to increase their professional development, and assist with high acuity client needs, and to ensure that teams are practicing trauma informed and client focused strategies. Mercy House programs are continuously modified and improved to achieve the highest possible effectiveness. This position requires a minimum of three years of relevant management experience and acts as the primary representative of Mercy House in the community, building and maintaining strong relationships with partner organizations, funders, and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work (or related field) and/or three years of experience working with people experiencing homelessness is preferred
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office programs
  • Possess advanced typing skills, email etiquette knowledge, and internet usage skills
  • A valid CA driver’s license, proof of valid insurance and a reliable vehicle is required.
  • Comfortable with utilizing your own vehicle to travel to various operations locations in region, meet with partnering agencies, and to attend trainings and meetings with external stakeholders
  • Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Dependability, responsibility, and the ability to communicate effectively and respectfully
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 25 pounds
  • Prolonged periods of sitting a desk and working on a computer

Responsibilities

  • Shelter Program Management (35%) Oversee guest services and day-to-day operations to ensure a guest-focused, trauma-informed delivery in compliance with agency policies and procedures
  • Maintain accurate bed rosters daily
  • Coordinate with internal teams ensuring a housing-focused operation
  • Support site reviews, audits, and monitoring visits by regulatory or funding agencies
  • Encourage and discuss progress toward housing with shelter guests
  • Coordinate calendars and services provided by partner agencies
  • Oversee the collection and distribution of donations
  • Assist with monitoring facility security and maintenance
  • Ensure enforcement of our good neighbor policies
  • Assist with securing necessary resources
  • Oversee collection, input, and distribution of intakes/summary sheet /reports
  • Develop new partnerships with other agencies to enhance our current services
  • Manage program budgets, keep track of program expenditures, and collaborate with finance staff to ensure fiscal accountability
  • Submit vendor invoices in a timely manner
  • Facilitate Resident Advisory Council and partnership meeting
  • Staff Management (25%) Manage and supervise Shelter and Housing Navigation staff
  • Provide support and guidance to all shelter staff when necessary
  • Support hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management processes in coordination with Human Resources
  • Meet with identified staff individually at least once a month
  • Conduct midyear and annual reviews
  • Ensure staff adherence to documentation standards and data collection requirements
  • Community Relations (30%) Maintain active involvement with neighbors, program partners, and community service organizations
  • Attend community meetings representing Mercy House and looking for growth opportunities.
  • Act as our main local representative assisting with researching growth opportunities and supporting the implementation and oversite of new programs in the region
  • Respond to community concerns and inquiries in alignment with agency values
  • Miscellaneous (10%) Provide creative input to the Executive Team
  • Attend staff meetings and training workshops as needed
  • Monitor program performance and outcomes to ensure contractual obligations are met
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across the region
  • Enhance job performance by applying up-to-date professional knowledge gained by attending seminars and conferences and reviewing professional publications.
  • Supervise and train on-site volunteers and staff as needed
  • Perform ad hoc projects as appointed by Supervisor
