Overview of role: The Regional Maintenance Manager oversees the maintenance and repair operations of multiple facilities within a designated region while playing a key role in driving sales, service growth, and customer retention. This position is responsible for both operational excellence and identifying new service opportunities, supporting sales initiatives, and strengthening client relationships. The role includes managing maintenance staff, ensuring timely and effective repair of equipment, complying with safety regulations, maintaining facility operations cost-effectively, and contributing to revenue generation and business development efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in maintenance or facilities management, with at least 2 years in a regional or multi-site role.
  • Experience supporting or driving sales, service growth, or customer expansion.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong technical knowledge of building, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
  • Proven leadership and team management experience.
  • Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations related to facility maintenance.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and maintenance management software (e.g., CMMS).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to travel to various regional locations to inspect facilities and meet with customers.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to respond quickly to emergencies or unexpected issues.
  • Ability to manage budgetary constraints while maintaining operational efficiency and supporting revenue growth.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends, based on facility and customer needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications in facilities management, project management, or specific maintenance fields (e.g., CFM, PMP, HVAC).
  • Experience managing maintenance in a specific industry (manufacturing, retail, healthcare, etc.).
  • Knowledge of energy efficiency initiatives and sustainable facility practices.
  • Experience negotiating vendor contracts and service pricing.
  • Background in account management, business development, or customer-facing roles.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring all maintenance activities are carried out in accordance with company standards and safety regulations.
  • Managing the regional maintenance team, including scheduling, training, and performance management.
  • Coordinating and overseeing the preventive maintenance program for all regional facilities.
  • Identifying, promoting, and supporting the sale of maintenance services, upgrades, and long-term service agreements.
  • Developing and managing maintenance budgets while maximizing profitability and identifying revenue opportunities.
  • Ensuring efficient resource allocation and the timely completion of repairs and projects.
  • Managing relationships with external contractors, service providers, and key customer stakeholders.
  • Preparing and maintaining detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and service recommendations.
  • Conducting regular site inspections to ensure proper functioning of equipment and facilities while identifying additional service needs.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements related to facility management and maintenance operations.
  • Driving customer satisfaction, retention, and repeat business through frequent and effective communication.
  • Partnering with sales and leadership teams to support regional growth initiatives.
