The hourly rate pay for this position at Scotts/Hawthorne will generally fall between $26.90 - 40.00 per hour and is paid weekly. Scotts/Hawthorne will consider various factors in determining the actual pay including your skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location. We are looking for a Regional Inventory Control Specialist to join our Scotts Miracle Gro team in Riverside, CA! In this role you will: Inbound Raw Material Tracking & Coordination Work daily with the procurement and warehouse teams to ensure the right amount of raw material is on-site and ready for production. This role is responsible for the hands-on tracking of inventory to prevent shortages while keeping storage areas organized. Daily Inventory Monitoring: Physically check and track raw material levels against production schedules to ensure the facility has enough stock for the shift. Shortage Alerts: Immediately identify and report potential material shortages or delivery delays to the procurement team to avoid downtime. Inbound Coordination: Communicate with the purchasing department to stay updated on delivery times and prepare the site for incoming shipments. Order Updates: Work with procurement to flag when order quantities need to be adjusted based on actual floor usage. Material Aging: Regularly track safety stock levels and "first-in, first-out" (FIFO) practices to prevent material from expiring or becoming obsolete. Production Floor Support Coordinate with production teams to ensure materials are available for the daily manufacturing schedule and help resolve inventory discrepancies. Production Alignment: Meet daily with production supervisors to confirm that the materials needed for the day’s plan are ready and staged. Usage Tracking: Record and reconcile differences between planned material use and what was actually used on the floor. WIP Monitoring: Track work-in-progress (WIP) levels and investigate any missing or extra items. Inventory Audits: Lead and support frequent cycle counts and full physical inventory audits to ensure system accuracy. Outbound Finished Goods Handling Oversee the movement and staging of finished products to ensure they are ready for customer shipping and stored in the correct warehouse locations. Shipping Coordination: Work closely with the shipping and logistics teams to ensure outbound orders are staged and loaded on time. Stock Monitoring: Track finished goods levels at different warehouse locations to prevent stockouts or overcrowding. Order Fulfillment: Adjust product staging and locations based on urgent customer orders or changes in the shipping schedule. Space Optimization: Monitor warehouse capacity to ensure finished goods are stored efficiently to keep transportation flowing smoothly. Demand Tracking & Data Reporting Maintain accurate inventory data and provide daily/weekly updates to support production and distribution planning. Trend Reporting: Track and report on daily order patterns and historical usage to help the team plan for upcoming busy seasons. Inventory Updates: Keep inventory systems updated to reflect current stock levels, helping to maintain accurate "safety stock" numbers. Accuracy Checks: Identify gaps in inventory data and report them to management to help improve the tracking process. Data Support: Provide the necessary numbers and floor-level insights for weekly planning meetings. Team Collaboration & Process Improvement Act as the primary point of contact between the production floor, shipping, and the planning office to keep operations running smoothly. Department Liaison: Serve as the go-to person for questions regarding inventory status between the production and logistics teams. Daily Communication: Participate in regular inventory reviews and provide clear reporting on site performance. Problem Solving: Identify the root cause of inventory errors (e.g., miscounted items or lost paperwork) and suggest simple fixes. System Accuracy: Recommend ways to make the inventory software or physical labeling easier to use for the entire team.
