About The Position

The Regional HSE Manager is responsible for administering, progressively developing and delivering systems that drive safe operating practices in our Rock Island, IL, Jeffersonville, IN, and Antigo, WI facilities. Key responsibilities include developing strategies, mentoring and directing direct reports, conducting audits, managing compliance, and investigating incidents. This role is impactful to cultivating a productive, healthy and incident free workplace by establishing and promoting safety policies and coordinating with executives, managers and employees to perform work in accordance with procedures in compliance with regulatory Health, Safety and Environmental laws and industry standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; preferred in Occupational Safety or Engineering
  • Five years’ experience in people management, including leadership and delegation, within a matrix organization is preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including excellent presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical skills, along with effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite and HS&E system expertise.
  • Manufacturing facility background is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement regional HSE strategies aligned with organizational goals, while also championing a proactive safety culture.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop direct reports, such as site-based HSE professionals or safety supervisors, to build internal HSE competence.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations (like OSHA and EPA) across all sites. Conduct risk assessments, audits, and inspections to identify and mitigate hazards.
  • Create, implement, and manage regional HSE programs, policies, and procedures. This includes developing training programs for employees at all levels.
  • Lead HSE continual improvement to minimize risk and improve workers’ safety and efficiency. This includes conducting data driven risk assessments identifying improvement areas and working with engineering and management to source and implement newer safe controls.
  • Lead investigations into incidents, accidents, and near misses to determine root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Monitor and report on HSE performance metrics (KPIs) to regional and executive leadership, using data to justify resource allocation for safety improvements.
  • Act as a primary contact for regulatory agencies during inspections and for communicating with them about safety issues.
  • Travel will be required between facilities (25%)
