About The Position

The Regional Health, Safety and Environmental Manager for North America at ATS Corporation is responsible for promoting and implementing health, safety, and environmental programs across assigned locations. This role supports the corporate Health, Safety, and Environment Standards and acts as an internal technical resource, providing guidance and training on various health, safety, and environmental issues. The manager will lead internal audits of ATS facilities to ensure compliance with all legislative and corporate HSE requirements.

Requirements

  • Post secondary degree or diploma in a health and safety related discipline.
  • Minimum ten years of hands-on health and safety experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous multi-site responsibility required.
  • Extensive knowledge of Canadian (Ontario and Quebec) and USA safety and environmental regulations.
  • Experience in leading safety programs related to robots, lasers, electrical safety, fire prevention, and hazardous energy control.
  • Significant experience in HSE topic training program development and delivery.
  • Skilled in leading and coaching root causation analysis.
  • Strong verbal communication skills; French-speaking is beneficial but not required.
  • Must be able to travel up to 30% of the time.

Responsibilities

  • Drive success in injury prevention, safety culture development, and sustainability through continuous improvement of Company programs.
  • Provide expertise and leadership in anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control of health/safety hazards.
  • Work closely with operations groups to identify risks and develop/implement control methodologies.
  • Deliver corporate Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) training programs to employees.
  • Monitor and audit field-related activities to ensure adherence to HSE programs and practices.
  • Implement and administer standardized HSE processes for compliance with government regulations and corporate standards.
  • Drive attainment of organizational goals by eliminating environmental impacts and improving production efficiency.
  • Analyze injury/illness experience and track injury correlations to prevent incident recurrence.
  • Oversee environmental compliance issues for North American sites, including routine reports and regulatory filings.
  • Provide guidance and support to operations leaders during HSE regulatory activities.
  • Participate in the development and improvement of global HSE initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate statistical data and reports on injury trends.
  • Ensure divisional Joint Health and Safety Committee activities are taking place and engage with members.
  • Provide leadership in sustainability topics, including waste reduction and energy consumption.
  • Support the development of subject-matter expertise with local HSE leaders.
  • Review incident investigations to ensure proper root cause analysis.
  • Oversee workers' compensation claims management and monitor claim costs.
  • Ensure all business activities comply with the ATS Code of Business Conduct.
  • Adhere to all health and safety rules and procedures.
