About The Position

Earth Systems, an EnviroTrac LLC company, is seeking a Health & Safety (H&S) Specialist based in Bismarck, ND to support field operations across the Western Region, including North Dakota, South Dakota, Colorado, New Mexico, and Texas. This role provides hands-on field safety support, regional compliance oversight, incident response leadership, and Workers’ Compensation coordination. The H&S Specialist partners closely with Operations, Fleet, HR, and executive leadership to ensure safe, compliant, and audit-ready operations across multiple states. This is a mid-level to senior field safety leadership role with regional responsibility and growth potential.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of field safety experience in environmental consulting, remediation, construction, or oil & gas operations.
  • Experience managing ISNetworld and/or Veriforce compliance systems.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and general DOT driver safety requirements.
  • Experience handling workplace injuries and coordinating Workers’ Compensation claims.
  • Ability to travel extensively throughout ND, SD, CO, NM, and TX.
  • Strong documentation, investigation, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field audits, safety inspections, and compliance reviews across active remediation and construction sites.
  • Travel regularly throughout assigned territory to support project operations.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and state-specific regulations.
  • Support Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), and site-specific safety plans.
  • Provide hands-on safety leadership during high-risk activities and mobilizations.
  • Monitor and enforce field safety standards, PPE compliance, and safe work practices.
  • Coordinate with the Fleet Manager on driver compliance matters to ensure alignment between field safety operations and fleet regulatory requirements.
  • Support accident investigations involving company vehicles and both DOT and non-DOT drivers.
  • Lead post-accident response procedures for vehicle-related incidents, including required drug and alcohol testing in accordance with DOT and company standards.
  • Ensure proper documentation and reporting of vehicle-related incidents.
  • Partner with Fleet, Operations, and HR when drivers are restricted or removed from driving status.
  • Track vehicle-related trends and recommend corrective safety measures.
  • Implement, manage, and continuously improve Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) programs aligned with operational needs and regulatory requirements.
  • Administer and maintain contractor compliance platforms including ISNetworld (ISN) and Veriforce.
  • Maintain audit readiness and required documentation for client prequalification.
  • Monitor environmental compliance obligations and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Prepare internal compliance reports and regulatory submissions as required.
  • Partner with the Operations Manager to lead response efforts for employee accidents and injuries within assigned territory.
  • Conduct on-site incident assessments and investigations.
  • Perform root cause analysis and oversee corrective actions.
  • Coordinate and facilitate required post-incident drug and alcohol testing with Operations and HR.
  • Initiate and manage Workers’ Compensation claims from time of injury through Return-to-Work phase.
  • Serve as liaison between injured employees, medical providers, insurance carriers, Operations, and HR.
  • Monitor work restrictions and coordinate modified duty assignments.
  • Track and trend incident data to identify and reduce risk exposure.
  • Maintain and track all required safety certifications and training records across the region.
  • Ensure employees maintain current OSHA, HAZWOPER, DOT (as applicable), and client-required certifications.
  • Coordinate recurring and refresher training.
  • Deliver safety training sessions and toolbox talks.
  • Support new hire safety onboarding and regulatory training requirements.
