Oversees policy compliance and reporting as it relates to the fleet; develops and implements vehicle and equipment specifications and cost management programs; manages fleet capex/leasing budgets. Pay for this position is $125,000/yearly. This role is classified as a remote role, however candidates located in the west region near a major airport are preferred due to the travel requirements of the role.

Requirements

  • Mechanical engineering, automotive mechanic, or diesel mechanical knowledge preferred.
  • Four-year college graduate and a minimum 5 years of progressive responsibilities in corporate fleet administration, or combination of relevant education and work experience, ideally within the aviation ground handling environment.
  • Familiarization with fleet telematics desired.
  • Knowledge of insurance practices, risk management and collision repairs are preferred.
  • Ability to exercise considerable diplomacy, judgment and discretion in establishing and maintaining good working relationships and discretion with the company, union officials and other governing agencies.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written, and exercise active listening skills.
  • General knowledge of all OSHA and EPA regulations.
  • Strong communication, analytical, negotiation and decision-making skills required.
  • Must be able to travel up to 30%.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Ground Support Equipment (GSE).
  • Facilitate and coordinate inter-region transfer of equipment.
  • Act as POC for GSE specifications and supply chain matters requiring regional input and coordination.
  • Propose Fleet Management System (FMS) rationalization to bring operational efficiencies in line with industry fleet management best practice.
  • Manage GSE conditioning, reconditioning, and retirement programs. Oversee retrofit initiatives and coordinate salvage and resale efforts.
  • Manage all DOT regulations and audit compliance including documentation of licensing, registration and permitting.
  • OEM Vendors - Monitor new equipment deliveries. Address equipment defects and performance issues. Resolve warranty issues. Provide feedback regarding new product features and equipment performance improvements.
  • Own the short term/long term equipment replacement process.
  • Initiates and implements projects that improve efficiency and/or reduces operating costs by optimizing and standardizing the fleet.
  • Initiates, monitors, and recommends adjustments to the region's fleet replacement strategy in order to maximize the fleet's efficiency and profitability, ideally reduces the region's liability exposure and follows industry Best Practices.
  • Lead the CapEx/leasing budget planning process.
  • Own the equipment planning and demand standards process and work with stations, planning and operations to ensure equipment planning models are accurate.
  • Works in conjunction with regional GSE managers as necessary in order manage the acquisition and disposal of GSE assets, as well as to maintain accurate inventories of vehicles, equipment and titles.
  • Align with global fleet management strategies and contribute to their development.
