This position provides specialized consultative services in the primary areas of school finance and business services, serving the Central Illinois area. The role involves outreach and technical assistance to various educational and administrative entities, focusing on financial matters, cost analysis, and budget development.

  • Conducts outreach and provides technical assistance to Regional Offices of Education, district personnel, financial oversight panels, and agency staff using various financial indicators.
  • Serves as primary contact on financial matters related to cost analysis, business management, and budget development.
  • Conducts financial and trend analysis of school districts, particularly financially distressed districts, to track fiscal solvency and compliance.
  • Assists in the development, implementation, and assessment of training/professional development for improving financial management practices.
  • Recommends the development of state-wide financial management and fiscal policies.
  • Makes recommendations for technological systems development at the department level.
  • Functions as a team member and/or team leader for diverse agency and department teams.
  • Coordinates fiscal, staffing, and material resources to complete assigned projects.
  • Monitors projects and activities of team members to ensure timely completion.
  • Collects and analyzes data and compiles reports for review and implementation.
  • Applies technical expertise in accounting and financial management to research and implement project assignments.
  • Assists in the development of departmental information systems and planning data.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor's degree in any field.
  • At least two years of professional experience in K-12 school district accounting, auditing, or school business management.
  • Demonstrated ability in accounting, auditing, and financial management.
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of school business financial practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of accounting, auditing, and financial management practices.
  • Degree in accounting or finance, or master's degree in educational leadership or related field.
  • Experience in auditing school districts or as superintendent or CSBO/business manager for a school district.
  • Skilled in database and spreadsheet applications.
  • Knowledge of resource allocation and project coordination involving interdisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to various information systems.
  • Ability to define problems and apply problem-solving techniques to complex issues.
  • Anticipated Starting Salary Range: $62,449 - $78,917
  • Full Salary Range: $62,449 - $106,278
  • Office Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
