About The Position

As a Regional Environmental Engineer (REE), you will be responsible for environmental compliance at AWS data centers in Ohio. You will develop standards and policies to support regulatory compliance, complete environmental performance analysis, establish and monitor metrics, and guide the teams in implementation of Amazon environmental standards. You will provide guidance and build effective relationships with internal and external partners, including government entities, contractors, consultants, design, construction, operations and other key stakeholders. This position is based in Columbus, OH and will require travel throughout the state. AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. Requirements

  • Experience developing and implementing environmental compliance programs including regulated waste, water, and air regulations in accordance with applicable laws
  • 5+ years of regulatory and risk management experience
  • BA/BS degree in chemistry, chemical or environmental engineering, or related field of study
  • Broad knowledge of US environmental regulations

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee compliance with environmental regulations and Amazon policy;
  • Drive an environmentally responsible culture within the organization;
  • Ensure work performed by contractors, consultants, and employees is completed in accordance with Amazon standards;
  • Develop environmental metrics to measure, monitor and forecast performance;
  • Conduct thorough and accurate environmental audits for continuous improvement;
  • Prioritize and manage multiple technically complex assignments concurrently;
  • Represent Amazon at appropriate levels with governmental agencies and throughout the company;
  • Build collaborative relationships with various stakeholders to ensure risks are identified early and managed appropriately;
  • Assist in time-critical report submission to various governmental agencies;
  • Complete thorough and accurate environmental incident investigations and associated regulatory reports and develop appropriate corrective action.
