About The Position

The Regional Driver Manager is responsible for overseeing and directing a team of regional commercial drivers to ensure safe, timely, and efficient transportation operations. The Super-Sod Regional Driver Manager will oversee and direct the work performed by regional commercial Drivers to ensure timely, safe, and efficient logistics operations.

  • Exceptional interpersonal, customer service, leadership, problem-solving, verbal and written communication, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Knowledgeable on FMCSA and DOT regulations.
  • Proficient in Logistics Software.
  • Must be 19 years of age or older.
  • Pre-employment background check and drug screening required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with FMCSA and DOT regulations specific to Agricultural shipping laws.
  • Experience with turfgrass sod and seed in a retail setting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or similar field.
  • Class A CDL experience is a plus.
  • Bilingual skills (Spanish/English) strongly preferred but not required.
  • Proficient in Logistics software (Lytx, Samsara)
  • Proficient in Routing Software (OnFleet, Microsoft Dynamics, or GroundCloud)
  • Profient in B.I. and Analytics Software (Tableau, Excel)

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for training, developing, and motivating a group of regional Drivers to achieve the Company’s production goals.
  • In collaboration with Regional Safety and Maintenance Managers, schedules and monitors routine vehicle maintenance and safety compliance.
  • Conducts random truck maintenance inspections and ensures Driver compliance with required inspection reporting.
  • Monitor driver performance; conduct performance evaluations, safety training, and provide real time feedback and guidance when necessary.
  • Builds, distributes, and manages Driver assignments through a digital routing system to ensure all POs are adequately staffed and covered for transportation and delivery activities; uses independently contracted trucks when needed.
  • Consults with harvesting managers to plan deliveries for the next day.
  • In collaboration with Regional Transportation Manager, monitors inventory via an enterprise resource planning system or similar control system.
  • Identifies, investigates, and resolves delays in shipping operations, ensuring delivery deadlines are met.
  • Responds appropriately to accidents and other emergency situations.
  • Oversees compliance with traffic and safety regulations and applicable local, state and federal driving rules; reports violations in accordance with the Company’s safety policy.
  • Direct the movement of inbound, outbound, third party, and Super-Sod products to meet customer requirements.
  • Builds and maintains positive relationships with customers; addresses complaints and works to resolve them quickly.
  • Maintains constant contact with Drivers to ensure communication from customers and Company administrative support is properly provided.
  • Assists customer service representatives with order status inquiries and special customer needs; determines appropriate action to include in-transit visibility.
  • Prepares reports related to system services, costs, payroll, expenditures, fuel use, maintenance, and overall progress.
  • Approve freight exceptions on freight bills and purchase orders.
  • Assist HR with implementation and execution of Driver screening processes, as required by law and policy.
  • Provides input to management team regarding transportation operating efficiency to improve overall cost, service and/or performance.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
