About The Position

The Regional Disaster Program Officer is responsible for overseeing the implementation of volunteer-led disaster cycle services programs across the region. This role involves managing a diverse team of paid staff and volunteers to ensure effective disaster response and community preparedness. The officer will also engage with local communities and partners to enhance disaster readiness and recovery efforts, while meeting the physical and training requirements for deployment to disaster relief operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of related experience.
  • 7 years of management experience of paid or volunteer workforce.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Proven record of collaboration with diverse groups.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
  • Ability to work outside of regular hours, including nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Empower Volunteers by directing a diverse team responsible for disaster services programming.
  • Lead the Program by overseeing the implementation of the disaster cycle services program.
  • Champion mission capacity building by developing regional Disaster Leadership Volunteers.
  • Engage the community to prepare and mobilize for disaster response and recovery.
  • Manage in a matrix by collaborating with internal partners and volunteers.
  • Act as the regional disaster leader and subject matter expert.
  • Initiate, scale, coordinate, and manage disaster relief operations.
