The Regional Director of Spiritual Care Services partners closely with the Chief Mission Officer/Sr. Vice President of Mission Services to oversee the Spiritual Care Services Department across the Region and at their assigned hospital(s). This position is responsible for the management, leadership, and administration of the work of the managers, chaplains, training chaplains, staff care and support, continuing pastoral education, and clinical pastoral education programs. This department is responsible for the management and quality of religious and spiritual care of the patients, families, and their visitors, as well as hospital staff members. In partnership with the Chief Mission Officer/Sr. Vice President of Mission Services, this position ensures that the mission is integrated with the ethical values into patient care and spiritual care delivery across the Region. The Regional Director of Spiritual Care interacts and collaborates with leaders in the organization to plan, support and implement a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care. The Regional Director Spiritual Care Services partners with the Experience Department to ensure the Mission Services Department provides a caring compassionate experience for all patients, their families, and fellow team members, which includes documenting rounds done on patients and staff and performing service recovery when needed. The Regional Director of Spiritual Care Services assists with assessing the religious and spiritual needs & spiritual support needs of the client, and addresses or assists in addressing these needs whenever possible. Responsible for staffing chaplains at the assigned hospitals within Prime Healthcare recruiting, monitoring, orientation, staffing, assess competency, performance evaluation, and controlling the comprehensive, integrated resources for spiritual care for the hospitals or clinics. In collaboration with the Chief Mission Officer/Sr. Vice President for Mission Services, provides oversight into the planning and implementation of educational opportunities for chaplains and supervision of any students or volunteers who may work and learn in the department. Prepares and reports appropriate data to Prime Healthcare leadership to monitor performance and progress of key initiatives and plans. Develops, implements, and evaluates pastoral education programs including clinical pastoral education, supervised ministry, advanced clinical pastoral education, and community clergy educational programs. Provides leadership specific to the Hospital Emergency Incident Command System relative to the role of psychosocial support leader and mobilization of spiritual care services. Performs related responsibilities as required.

Requirements

  • Ordination in a recognized ecclesial tradition.
  • In good standing with the ecclesial authority and in good standing with their faith organization.
  • Minimum of five (5) years in ministry with demonstrated competence in pastoral care and two (2) years of supervisory experience.
  • Previous pastoral care experience within healthcare.
  • Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, in Theology, Spirituality, Divinity, Philosophy, Servant Leadership, Human Behavior, Pastoral Studies, Social Work, or a related field preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Board Certification from the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC), National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC), Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC), or National Association of Jewish Chaplains (NAJC) preferred.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
