Duties/Responsibilities: Person directly reports to Vice President, Finance. The position serves as a liaison between the Corporate Office and Properties. Advising of any concerning matters promptly. Review and sign off on all ï¬nancial statements, forecasts, cash ï¬ows and balance sheets. Review balance sheet accounts, ensuring adequate support and documentation for all accounts. Creates plans and timelines to correct any deï¬ciencies. Ensures P&L accuracy and timeliness through adequate accounting workï¬ow planning, effective close management, and optimization of checklists and documentation tools Ensure property compliance with USALI, GAAP and Company accounting policies and procedures Ensure satisfaction of legal requirements and contractual obligations (including obligations under a management agreement) utilizing internal controls, auditing, and security procedures to ensure deviations are brought to the attention of the General Manager and Vice President - Accounting. Ensure hotels' compliance on all regulatory licenses and permits, leases, contracts, legal agreements, and the proper execution of all operational taxes. Primary involvement in tax audits and internal/external audits and assist in coordinating the responses to governmental agencies when necessary. Collaborate with other Regional Directors of Finance, Property Controllers/ Directors of Finance, and the Vice President - Accounting to ensure effective coordination of activities and discussion of best practices Serve as the subject matter expert for all ï¬nance division related matters, speciï¬cally ensuring implementation and adherence to SOPs, training manuals, systems, and service standards and guidelines. Coach and mentor direct reports to develop their full potential; establish clear expectations that will allow them to achieve success in their role; provide them the necessary tools and training for growth; approach people performance needs by understanding individual needs and barriers. Work with transition and ownership teams for on-boarding and off-boarding of properties ensuring smooth, thorough, and accurate hotel transition activities. Actively assist in recruiting, reviewing, recommending prospective team members like Directors of Finance, Assistant Directors of Finance, Accounting Managers, and other ï¬nance team members for the organization. Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Required Skills/Abilities: Superior verbal and written communication skills. Proï¬cient with Microsoft Office Suite Excellent interpersonal and technical communication skills; must demonstrate the ability to clearly communicate complex ideas and know one’s audience Thorough understanding of accounting and ï¬nancial best practices, highly desirable to have a knowledge of hotel ï¬nance, hotel information and ï¬nancial systems. Superior organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to plan, prioritize, and multitask; sound judgement Solution oriented – identiï¬es the source of a challenge to adopt long term solutions Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), USALI, and general accounting practices. Ability to read and understand basic contract elements, e.g., management agreement, terms, priorities, and proï¬t distribution. Business Acumen – Understanding, utilizing, and analyzing business information. Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience; 8+ years’ experience in ï¬nance or accounting, hotel ï¬nance/accounting experience preferred. Experience in a high-growth, fast-paced, multi-unit hospitality (food & beverage or hotel) environment preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including an ability to generate enthusiasm and speak knowledgeably about ï¬nancial planning, systems administration, and hotel accounting best practices. Experience in working with Proï¬t Sword (or other Budgeting and Planning enterprise-level software) and Enterprise Resource Planning/Accounting platforms strongly preferred. Experience developing ï¬nancial forecasting, budgets, cash ï¬ow forecasting and the preparation of ï¬nancial reporting and analysis Conï¬dent, proactive, and positive attitude; energetic and cooperative team player; eager to contribute and improve efficiency Dedicated to coaching and developing team members Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time. Salary range for this position is $180,000 to $200,000 annually.
