About The Position

The Regional Director of Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) at Meritus Gas Partners is a high-visibility role focused on ensuring workplace safety and regulatory compliance across multiple facilities in the Southeast region. This position offers a significant level of autonomy and the opportunity to make a substantial impact within a growing organization. The role involves strategic oversight of EHS programs, compliance assurance, and collaboration with management to enhance safety culture and performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline.
  • At least 8 years of EHS management experience.
  • Ability to travel up to 70% domestically.
  • Experience in Operational Safety (PSM/RMP).
  • Excellent organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to present and discuss technical information and respond to questions.
  • Ability to define and solve problems effectively.
  • Proficiency in basic algebra and geometry for calculations.
  • Experience in coaching, developing talent, and building teams.
  • Ability to work outdoors in a wide range of temperatures and weather conditions.
  • Ability to perform work during prolonged standing, frequent bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, climbing, grasping, feeling, and repetitive motion.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Nice To Haves

  • Engineering degree preferred but not required.
  • Gas Industry Experience preferred but not required.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred but not required.
  • OSHA Authorized Trainer preferred but not required.
  • Labor relations experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Champion and promote a strong safety and compliance culture, implementing programs to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Work with management to ensure support is provided in achieving EHS goals.
  • Identify opportunities to improve EHS performance and take proactive actions to implement improvements.
  • Support accident/incident investigation, reporting, and root cause analysis.
  • Provide active support to partners by training employees on safety protocols.
  • Assist partners with environmental permit compliance.
  • Monitor OSHA, EPA, FDA, and DOT regulations to ensure compliance across facilities.
  • Assist with the preparation and submission of Federal and State reports as required.
  • Perform audits of operating procedures and assist with the development of corrective actions.
  • Represent the company on regulatory issues with government entities.
  • Provide analysis of risk data to management.
