The Regional Director is responsible for setting and delivering the strategic direction for LEGO® and/or LEGOLAND® Discovery Centers (LDCs) within the assigned region. The role provides leadership across commercial performance, operational excellence, brand consistency, people engagement, and regulatory compliance. This position drives integration of strategy, culture, policies, and systems to ensure sustainable financial performance, exceptional guest experience, and long-term growth aligned with global, national, and local objectives.

  • Develop and deliver the regional business plan in partnership with senior stakeholders to achieve shared strategic objectives.
  • Deliver annual budgeted financial targets, ensuring disciplined cost control and revenue optimization.
  • Define and implement strategies to improve profitability, drive brand consistency, and embed best practice across all commercial areas.
  • Lead regional planning for EBITDA growth, including five-year plans and cost-efficiency initiatives.
  • Maximize visitor volume, revenue per capita (RPC), and spend per head across Retail, Food & Beverage, and commercial partners.
  • Provide oversight and direction of day-to-day regional operations to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery.
  • Monitor guest feedback and performance metrics to consistently meet and exceed customer satisfaction targets.
  • Ensure full compliance with all licensing, regulatory, health & safety, and local statutory requirements.
  • Set and manage regional capital expenditure budgets, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to agreed return on investment.
  • Ensure alignment and coordination between marketing and operations to maximize commercial and brand impact.
  • Maintain strict adherence to brand standards, identities, and propositions across all communications and guest touchpoints.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to drive innovation, sustain competitive advantage, and support regional growth strategies.
  • Leverage market insight data to inform volume strategy, pricing, and promotional opportunities.
  • Identify and execute cross-promotional and geographical synergies across attractions and operating divisions.
  • Build, lead, and retain high-performing leadership teams, fostering a strong culture of accountability, engagement, and development.
  • Act as a role model and ambassador for company values, ensuring alignment with corporate strategy and behaviors.
  • Partner with General Managers and HR to identify, develop, and retain talent, including robust succession planning for critical roles.
  • Coach and develop direct reports to strengthen strategic, financial, and operational capability.
  • Promote collaboration, knowledge sharing, and best-practice exchange across regions and functions.
  • Deliver annual regional EBITDA in line with approved budgets.
  • Drive sustainable revenue growth aligned with long-term strategic plans.
  • Achieve and maintain customer satisfaction KPIs across all departments.
  • Ensure effective cost management while enabling growth and operational flexibility.
  • Oversee capital investment decisions to address urgent operational needs and deliver strong returns.
  • Accountable for regional capital expenditure execution following budget approval.
  • Authorized to allocate expenditure to drive visitor growth, enhance guest experience, or mitigate health & safety risks within agreed limits.
  • Provide regular, transparent updates to the Line Manager on key decisions, actions, and performance outcomes.
  • Empower and guide direct reports in resolving operational issues and supporting longer-term business planning.
  • Ensure full compliance with Group Health, Safety, and Security policies and legal requirements.
  • Maintain effective risk management, incident reporting, and safety culture across all sites.
  • Take full accountability for health, safety, and security performance within the regional remit.
  • Significant senior leadership experience within Merlin or a comparable multi-site, consumer-facing organization.
  • Deep understanding of Merlin brands, values, strategy, and operational standards.
  • Proven experience leading complex change and transformation initiatives.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance management.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams and operate effectively in culturally diverse environments.
