About The Position

The Regional Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) provides clinical nutrition services to patients and oversees Nutrition Services operations across multiple long‑term care and skilled nursing facilities. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while supporting high‑quality nutritional care. The Regional Dietitian Nutritionist serves as a key resource for facility teams by offering clinical guidance, training, and recommendations to Nutrition Services and Nursing staff. This position is ideal for a Registered Dietitian with long‑term care experience who enjoys regional travel and supporting multiple facilities.

Requirements

  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) with active membership in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
  • Current, valid state license in dietetics
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical nutrition experience in long‑term care, skilled nursing, or therapeutic nutrition
  • Strong understanding of geriatric nutrition and the nutritional needs of older adults
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations for long‑term care nutrition services
  • Willingness to travel between assigned facilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular onsite visits to assigned SNFs to review, monitor, and audit food service and clinical nutrition quality
  • Evaluate food storage, preparation, and meal delivery processes for regulatory compliance
  • Review clinical nutrition documentation for accuracy, timeliness, and completeness
  • Partner with Executive Directors to develop action plans addressing concerns or implementing new procedures
  • Report findings, recommendations, and action plans to facility and regional leadership
  • Provide in‑service training to Nutrition Services staff on clinical nutrition, regulatory requirements, and company policies
  • Identify and address areas of concern based on state and federal regulations
  • Participate in performance evaluations and staffing decisions for Nutrition Services Directors and staff
  • Provide clinical orientation for new Nutrition Services Directors within 5 days of hire
  • Review state survey results and quality assurance data to ensure compliance with PCMS and regulatory standards
  • Assess staff competency and report findings to facility leadership
  • Monitor patient nutritional status through assessments, progress notes, and clinical documentation
  • Review weight trends, skin integrity reports, and make clinical recommendations
  • Conduct audits of diet orders, supplements, tube feedings, and nourishments
  • Participate in QAPI (Quality Assurance Performance Improvement) and Validation Surveys
  • Conduct sanitation inspections of Nutrition Services Departments
  • Attend company and regional meetings and submit required reports
  • Represent the company in public‑facing or professional settings as needed
  • Lead or support departmental projects and initiatives
  • Serve as a clinical leader and role model for facility staff
  • Maintain knowledge of and enforce Cantex Abuse Prevention policies
  • Support implementation of Patient Care Management Systems and Financial Management Systems
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership
  • Ensure patient and resident safety at all times
