About The Position

Thanks to continued growth, we have an exciting opportunity to join the UK& International Professions team as a Business Development Underwriter. You will play a key role in driving new business growth by proactively developing and maintaining strong broker relationships across your region and our core territories. You will contribute to the team budget by underwriting the full range of Professional Indemnity (PI) products, including both packaged and standalone options. Working closely with the Team Leader, Business Development Manager and your regional Distribution Manager, you will contribute to the strategic growth of the portfolio, identifying opportunities, supporting broker engagement initiatives, and helping to strengthen our regional market presence. Your focus will be on delivering high quality underwriting, cultivating new opportunities, and ensuring exceptional service to our broker partners.

Requirements

  • Experience in a PI Business Development Underwriting role or as a PI Underwriter, with a strong focus on regional broker development.
  • Sector knowledge or a strong interest in key PI areas such as engineering, construction, recruitment, and miscellaneous professional services is essential.
  • Sales‑focused, adept at problem‑solving with the ability to build new relationships and rapidly strengthening existing ones, demonstrating strong negotiation skills alongside experience delivering effective presentations to brokers and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Team Leader, Business Development Manager, and regional Distribution Manager to target and pursue key broker opportunities that drive growth and strengthen regional market presence.
  • Proactively source and develop new business, building strong broker relationships through regular face‑to‑face engagement and regional travel.
  • Represent CFC at industry events to engage brokers and deepen relationships.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to broker enquiries, delivering high‑quality new business and renewal quotes within SLAs and underwriting authority.
  • Support team performance by meeting new business and renewal targets, providing high‑quality underwriting, and assisting junior colleagues with referrals and complex queries.
  • Clearly communicate the features and benefits of Professions products, support product launches, and promote awareness of new and existing offerings.
  • Prepare and deliver internal and external presentations on CFC products, market trends, and key exposures.
  • Contribute to team and business projects, including product enhancements, new product launches, and improvements to systems, policies, and processes.
