Milton Rents is seeking a skilled and motivated Regional Controller to join our New York team. This hands-on leadership role oversees all aspects of general accounting, accounts receivable, and accounts payable operations, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and strong financial controls. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in corporate accounting with proven success in a management role.
  • Excellent working knowledge of accounting policies and procedures is required.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, decision making and time management skills along with a willingness to roll up your sleeves are required for success in this role.
  • Experience with financial and accounting software systems.
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Office tools.
  • Ability to work on-site at our Rochester, NY office and also be able to travel between other NY locations as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and direct all aspects of the general accounting function and ensure accuracy and timeliness of all data relating to general ledger transactions, bank reconciliations, receivables, and payables.
  • Ensure that all financial transactions are executed and documented in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Provide direct supervision for the accounting staff, inclusive of all performance management and hiring activities.
  • Ensure proper revenue and expense matching.
  • Prepare the monthly management financial reporting package, forecasts, and annual financial statements as required.
  • Manage the treasury function including cash forecasting, debt management and payment approvals.
  • Assist with the coordination and management of the audit process with external auditors.
  • Oversee preparation and submittal of monthly, quarterly, annual state sales tax returns with payments as required.
  • Prepare and submit various federal, state, and local regulatory reporting as required.
  • Proactively identify and propose process improvements.
  • Provide ad-hoc reporting and analysis as required.
  • Generate and distribute reports regarding fleet, sales etc.
  • Highway Use and IFTA tax filing
  • Investigate and resolve customer billing inquiries and disputes
