AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help. You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion. Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a highly motivated Regional Chief Engineer (CE) to join our Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO) Team. This committed group works to maintain the critical physical infrastructure that supports AWS. Specifically, this team works to ensure the safe and secure operation of the data center's Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) infrastructure to provide 99.999% availability for our customers. In this specific case, High Voltage Sub-Station (HVSS) experience is at a premium given the infrastructure layout of the PHX region.

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment in a data center, to include HVSS
  • Operate independently with limited direct management
  • Act as an escalation point for all facilities-related issues within the region
  • Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures
  • Create and deploy new standard practices for EOTs, CEs, and vendor support teams
  • Provide training and guidance to EOTs, CEs, and FMs
  • Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to by vendor and Amazon staff
  • Communicate complex technical information to a non-technical audience
  • Work cross-functionally across teams to effect cluster-wide performance improvement with our internal and external partners by designing and implementing processes, metrics, and programs that enhance the end to end employee experience
  • Collaborate effectively across teams to define strategy, goals, and obtain commitment to timelines and deliverables
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience carrying new design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production
  • Experience in MS Excel, Word, and Windows Operating Systems
  • Experience in project management in data centers or comparable critical infrastructure
  • Experience in Data Center Engineering Operations, with a deep understanding of electrical and mechanical data center infrastructure
  • Medical, financial, and/or other benefits
  • Equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package
