About The Position
BevMo! by Gopuff is seeking a Regional Category Specialist for our Retail Operations team. The Regional Category Specialist plays a crucial role in overseeing a specific category or department within their region, ensuring that operations run smoothly, customer service is exceptional, and compliance with all relevant regulations is maintained. This position requires a proactive leader who can effectively manage department staff at the store level, assist in inventory management, and contribute to achieving sales targets. The Regional Category Specialist will collaborate closely with merchandising and supply chain teams to ensure that the right products are available in each store within their region. In this role, the Regional Category Specialist will serve as a subject matter expert for their assigned department, which may include Spirits, Wine, or Non-Alc & Beer. They will be responsible for training new employees on department procedures, product knowledge, and customer service standards. The Specialist will consistently review and analyze product sell-through rates, store and regional trends, and identify category product gaps to optimize inventory and sales performance. They will ensure that department shelves are stocked, organized, and displayed attractively in accordance with merchandising standards. The Regional Category Specialist will act as a liaison between business partners, key vendors, regional counterparts, and field teams, facilitating effective communication and collaboration. They will assist in managing day-to-day store operations, including opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and POS system management. Driving individual and team performance to achieve sales targets and maximize profitability through effective merchandising, promotions, product knowledge, and upselling techniques will be a key focus. Additionally, they will monitor customer feedback and implement improvements to enhance the overall shopping experience, creating a welcoming environment for customers by greeting and assisting them promptly. The role also involves managing department receiving, including receiving shipments, stocking shelves, and conducting regular inventory counts. The Regional Category Specialist will monitor inventory levels and participate in inventory control activities to minimize out-of-stock situations and overstocking. They will verify age identification for customers purchasing alcoholic beverages and train staff on proper age verification procedures. Furthermore, they will assist merchandising in pricing recommendations and positioning of category products to refine the localized product assortment to reflect the neighborhood store. Maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming store environment is essential to this role.
