About The Position

The Regional Camp Ranger ensures Girl Scouts of West Central Florida’s camp properties are safe, well-maintained, and welcoming for our members and guests. This full-time position is based at Camp Wildwood with a travel schedule of 2–3 days per week to Camp Wai Lani, Camp Dorothy Thomas, and Camp Indian Echo. A council vehicle will be provided for travel. Working under the supervision of the Lead Ranger, the Regional Ranger supports the maintenance and operations of all four camp properties. The position follows established work plans and best practices, while also contributing new ideas and recommending improvements to enhance efficiency and member experience.

Requirements

Minimum five years’ experience in general property maintenance, including plumbing, carpentry, electrical work, painting, and grounds upkeep.
Availability for a general Monday–Friday schedule, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., with flexibility to work weekends as needed.
Demonstrated ability to motivate volunteers toward shared goals.
Enthusiasm for welcoming members and guests to camp.
Strong pride in personal and team achievement.
Motivation to advance the Girl Scout mission.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Reliable personal transportation, valid driver’s license, safe driving record, and proof of insurance (CDL preferred).
Ability to pass a “Fitness to Work” physical evaluation.
Physical capability to lift at least 40 pounds, walk, bend, stoop, sit, and work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather.

Responsibilities

Perform routine, preventative, and restorative maintenance across all camp properties, under the direction of the Lead Ranger and Camp Rangers.
Provide coverage and continuity of operations during Camp Rangers’ PTO or absences.
Ensure safety and security of people, assets, and equipment on property while on duty.
Conduct regular site tours, monitoring for weather damage or vandalism, and report findings promptly.
Facilitate inspections and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
Maintain accurate records and documentation (e.g., pool chemical records, health inspections, cooler temperatures, SDS manuals).
Perform general repairs such as painting, plumbing, electrical work, screen repair, minor construction, trail clearing, road maintenance, and lawn care.
Clean and maintain interior and exterior facilities, equipment, and tools.
Manage inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies.
Maintain council-owned vehicles, including service and inspections.
Source competitive pricing and purchase supplies and materials as needed.
Manage vendor relationships, including oversight of on-site work.
Assist with building renovations, land improvements, and major projects.
Enact inclement weather and emergency response plans when necessary.
Partner with the outdoor program team and staff to ensure a seamless and positive customer experience for members and camp guests.
Support camp directors, volunteers, and staff for on-site events.
Supervise volunteer projects, including Girl Scout High Awards, service units, and community groups.
Plan and implement service days (ranger, member, and volunteer workdays).
Maintain updated emergency plans and communicate procedures to staff and guests.
Support outside user groups to ensure compliance with council and safety standards.
Collaborate with the Lead Ranger to develop annual goals and priorities.
Process payments and reconcile credit card statements.
Participate in team, departmental, and council-wide meetings.
Represent the Girl Scout brand and council to members, volunteers, and the community.
Complete special assignments as directed.
Follow GSUSA and Council policies, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
