About The Position

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Regional CAD & Digital Delivery Manager for our Buffalo, NY office. The Regional Computer-Aided Design (CAD) & Digital Delivery Manager will oversee the Northeast Regional Transportation & Infrastructure digital delivery and CAD operations, coordinating and managing staff and project workflows to ensure efficient, high-quality design production, setting standards, training teams, and acting as a liaison between project managers, local Technical Excellence Center (TEC) managers, and CAD managers to meet project deadlines and quality benchmarks. Provides highway design and Bentley CAD support guidance and oversight to ensure high quality production of design deliverables. Provides coordination and oversight for CADD designs on multiple projects of moderate to larger scale, scope, and/or complexity. Responsible for providing situational guidance, applying and integrating design support and perspective to solve project challenges, and to inform corrective/mitigation strategy across a variety of disciplines. Coordinates with local managers and provides quality assurance for design activities to ensure that conventional and digital designs are delivered to a level of quality that meets and exceeds acceptable industry standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in closely related discipline (or equivalent experience.)
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in Civil Transportation Infrastructure.
  • 10+ years of experience as a Design Supervisor and CAD Manager/Coordinator.
  • High-level experience with both public and private sector work (e.g. state, city, county, utility districts, and private land development.)
  • Strong leadership, communication, and CAD management skills.
  • Expertise with Bentley ProjectWise, MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, and AutoCAD platform.
  • Advanced proficiency in 3D Roadway Modeling and digital content (3D/4D) and delivery.
  • Full understanding of roadway design principles, practices, processes, methods and techniques.
  • In-depth understanding of relevant NYSDOT standards, policies and procedures related to digital or conventional delivery, standard Bentley workspaces and preferences, ProjectWise architecture, and document delivery methodology.
  • Ability to work independently and provide guidance and leadership to junior, mid-level and senior level team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC and documented procedures.
  • Strong self-leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively, persuasively, and tactfully interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Advanced proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, math principles, spreadsheets, and tools.
  • Extensive critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to reach conclusions from research, data collation, calculations, statistical analysis and identifying the most effective solutions to accomplish objectives of assigned projects.
  • Willingness to travel as needed depending on project-specific requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and review of team’s work product to include technical expertise with 3D computer-aided design modeling and drafting (CADD) work product.
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce WSP policies and best practices.
  • Collaborating with project managers and TEC leads to ensure high quality delivery and compliance with client standards, policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate with WSP’s National Digital Delivery team to develop and implement new processes and technologies that streamline workflows for improved efficiency.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to design teams, troubleshooting issues and ensuring effective use of CADD tools.
  • Provide leadership and review of project team staffing assignments, delivery schedules, and design procedures needed to provide high quality deliverables.
  • Develop standard practice and workflow documentation and provide technical guidance.
  • Assist with scoping and execution of large-size, multi-phase, and/or more complex design support projects.
  • Ensure compliance with project-specific procedures which include but are not limited to, data collection, database, documentation, and the management of a digital libraries and design support documents in various file types.
  • Mentor staff to support their growth and professional development.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
