About The Position

The U.S. Foundational Therapies Platform (FTP) Business Unit at Takeda brings together the company's long-standing Immunology, Hematology, Lysosomal Storage Disorders (LSD), Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency, and Transplant portfolios. This unit is dedicated to supporting patients who require long-term treatment, often for many years. FTP is designed to deliver foundational capabilities, ensuring continuity of care, reliability, and sustained partnership for patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers. As the Regional Business Leader – PI – North East, you will be responsible for leading a team of Rare Disease Business Managers. Your primary objective will be to achieve and exceed regional sales objectives for Takeda’s Plasma Derived Therapies (PDT) Primary Immunodeficiency (PI) and CIDP portfolio. This role involves overseeing day-to-day regional operations, as well as coaching, developing, and empowering your team to foster continuous improvement and excellence in product launches. You will report directly to the National Head of PI Sales. Your team will focus on engaging various physician specialties, including Allergy/Immunology and Neurology, across the states of MA, Maine, NH, Vermont, RI, CT, and NY (Upstate, NY City, Long Island).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of successful, relevant healthcare sales experience (pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device, or related).
  • Demonstrated experience creating and implementing annual sales budgets and forecasts.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record; must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively, including overnight and occasional weekend travel.
  • Authorization and ability to drive a company-leased vehicle or rental.
  • Proven interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation), including negotiation, collaboration, and influencing without authority.
  • Demonstrated business acumen, deep knowledge of sales processes, and strong leadership and decision‑making capabilities.
  • Ability to organize, synthesize, and leverage information on sales leads, integrating insights into the strategic sales plan.

  • Prior leadership experience in the healthcare industry, preferably in biotech or specialty/rare disease.
  • Demonstrated success in navigating, selling, and leading within the physician setting, with a strong understanding of the environmental and market drivers for this customer segment.

Responsibilities

  • Meet or exceed Business Unit sales objectives by leading robust regional business planning, including Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) and ongoing performance coaching.
  • Execute national brand and marketing strategies at the regional level, adapting to local business drivers, influencers, and market dynamics.
  • Plan, direct, and control sales and business activities within the physician setting to achieve goals in sales volume, product mix, profitability, and market share.
  • Continually assess regional performance and territory design to identify opportunities for growth and improve representative effectiveness.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual regional forecasts and contribute to market potential assessments for the PI/CIDP portfolio.
  • Collaborate with Patient Services, Integrated Health Systems, Market Access, and National Accounts to align on pull‑through for contract opportunities and optimize local execution.
  • Lead external collaboration with key Specialty Pharmacy partners to maximize access and ensure effective distribution of Takeda’s SCIG portfolio.
  • Maintain in‑depth knowledge of local customers, networks, and referral patterns, leveraging insights to shape regional strategy and tactical plans.
  • Regularly conduct field visits, observe performance, and provide timely, documented feedback and coaching.
  • Implement all dimensions of marketing strategies and tactical plans at the regional level, ensuring effective deployment of resources to meet quarterly and annual targets.
  • Manage regional expenses and resource allocation in line with budget and company guidelines.
  • Ensure all regional activities are executed in strict compliance with Takeda policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Translate national brand strategies into effective regional plans that deliver on national objectives.
  • Navigate and lead your team through the multiple channels and avenues (office, infusion centers, hospitals, specialty pharmacy, payer) that drive success in this environment.
  • Analyze and interpret sales, market, and account data to develop insight‑driven strategies and ensure strong organization and time management across the region.
  • Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction across all major channel accounts.
  • Direct staffing, training, and performance evaluation for the regional team.
