About The Position
Since 1987, Laurel Ridge Treatment Center has been the premier provider of specialized behavioral health and addictive disease services in San Antonio and South Texas. Our 330-bed facility is one of the largest freestanding psychiatric hospitals in the United States. Set on a therapeutic 29-acre campus in north central San Antonio, Laurel Ridges serves as the setting for the treatment for children, adolescents, young adults, adults, veterans and military personnel. Laurel Ridge’s comprehensive programs treat disorders. The Biller/Collector is responsible for organizing patient medical costs and sending invoices to collect payments from patients and their insurance providers in a timely manner. This position will include processing accounts from other hospitals in the region as well as those from Laurel Ridge Treatment Center.
Requirements
- High School Degree or GED required.
- Customer service skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to demonstrate service excellence standards.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with managed care and state agency billing preferred.
Responsibilities
- Prepares and submits patient bills for insurance and/or private pay.
- Acts as a liaison between patients and their health insurance.
- Collects patient insurance information, referrals, and pre-authorizations.
- Answers patient questions about bills and insurance coverage.
- Maintains a high level of professionalism and adheres to all debt collection rules and regulations.
- Researches and monitors late payments and financial discrepancies.
- Contacts insurance companies to determine the status of submitted claims.
- Investigates claim denials.
- Performs other duties as assigned/required by this position.
