About The Position

Work collaboratively with the Career Services & Professional Development director and staff to deliver career development coaching services and programs strategically devised for students of the Miami University Regionals campuses. Conduct career coaching appointments to assist students with career exploration and choosing a major or career path; plan/implement career development programs (e.g, Career Communities, Meet the Majors); provide in-class presentations; and prepare students for successful job search readiness prior to graduation. Serve as a liaison to faculty and staff regarding career development programming and events; assist with planning, and/or implementation of career development events (e.g., career fairs, majors expo, career communities, and etiquette dinners). Enhance individualized career development for all students on the Miami Regionals campuses; prepare students for successful job searches that align with their career goals. Position reports to the Regional Director of Career Services & Work-Based Learning.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree by date of appointment.
  • Experience in career development, student development, workforce development, education, social services, student success, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of career development theories and assessment interpretation.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication, and teaching abilities.
  • Experience with project and program management.
  • Experience with staff supervision.
  • Experience with website and social media content development.

Responsibilities

  • Execute career development strategies, including career advising, programs, and services for students based on NACE competencies and standards.
  • Provide individual, group, classroom-based, and virtual career coaching.
  • Interpret career assessment results and coach students toward making informed decisions about choosing a major and/or a career path.
  • Guide students in the development of their job search readiness toolbox.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and supervise student Career Ambassadors and Graduate Student interns.
  • Develop and implement a job readiness training program for campus student employees.
  • Serve as a liaison to designated academic departments, communicating regularly with faculty, staff, students, student groups, and alumni regarding career development activities and programming.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders regarding career communities; plan and implement programming designed to engage students in career development activities/events.
  • Teach a minimum of 6 credit hours per academic year regarding career or student development courses.
  • Assist in the planning and/or implementing career services special events, programs, labs, career fairs, and other events as needed.
  • Develop new content and maintain the career services website, and social media sites for career services.
  • Serve on appropriate campus committees and engage in regular professional development.
  • Assist with collecting and reporting assessment data for career services.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $45,000 to $50,000.
  • Benefit eligible position.
  • Regular work schedule of 40 hours per week.
