The Regional Assistant Controller is responsible for providing high-level support to the Corporate Controller as they manage all regional accounting activities. The Regional Assistant Controller's main duties include leading job cost, billing, collections, inventory, and month-end close activities to ensure accurate financial reporting and operational efficiency. This role partners closely with Division Managers (DMs), Project Managers (PMs), Superintendents, and corporate finance to deliver timely, precise financial data that supports business decision-making. The Regional Assistant Controller will oversee a team of finance and billing professionals, ensuring compliance with company policies and deadlines while proactively identifying opportunities for process improvement.

  • Responsible for all aspects of job cost reporting for the Midwest and Southeast divisions, including billing, payroll, and inventory.
  • Prepare, analyze, and review weekly and monthly job cost reports, backlog reports, and Work-In-Progress schedules.
  • Supervise regional payroll processing and coordinate with project teams as needed on labor and payroll job costing information.
  • Manage weekly material, inventory, and equipment job cost transactions. Support month-end inventory counts and resolve discrepancies.
  • Assist Corporate Finance Manager with project specific insurance and bond requests.
  • Supervise regional billing specialists to ensure all billing deadlines are met.
  • Support the Collections team by monitoring overdue accounts and facilitating communication with Division Managers, Project Managers, and customers.
  • Oversee invoice approvals for assigned divisions to meet month end close deadlines.
  • Perform account reconciliations to ensure accuracy of regional financial statements.
  • Assist with preparation and review of monthly regional financial statements.
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, preferably in construction or project-based industries.
  • Strong knowledge of job cost accounting, WIP reporting, and financial close processes.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with experience managing teams.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Valid drivers license.
  • Must have reliable transportation to the workplace(s)/ job location(s).
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check related to driving (for any driver).
  • Ability to pass drug screening.
  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and in the future.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (Spectrum experience strongly preferred).
