The Cultural Heritage Center in is looking to hire a contractor as a full time Regional Analyst. This position is DC-based and the candidates should expect to work from the Cultural Heritage Center’s office full time. The Cultural Heritage Center leads the Department of State and U.S. Government efforts to combat the illicit trafficking of cultural property and preserve cultural heritage. It does this by: Negotiating and implementing bilateral cultural property agreements that disrupt illegal trafficking and protect American collectors from inadvertently providing financial support to terrorists and transnational criminal organizations Serving as a negotiator in various inter-governmental forums on culture to advance American interests and defend American free market principles; Creating and funding programs that Embassies can leverage to improve diplomatic relations and increase U.S. favorability abroad; and Advocating for the return of American heritage to its rightful owners. The Center also leads two interagency bodies (the Cultural Heritage Coordinating Committee and the Cultural Antiquities Task Force) and manages the Cultural Property Advisory Committee, appointed by the President.
