About The Position

As Regional Accounting Manager for Liberty Military Housing, you will be working with the company leaders including Regional Property Manager(s), Regional Maintenance Director(s), Regional Vice President(s) and members of National Support Functions to provide accurate and timely reporting on the financial performance of the Company. You will perform a daily review of key financial metrics and report to Company leadership. You will perform regular review of financial statements and work with regional leadership to develop timely and accurate explanations for variances from expected performance. Also, you will review and submit monthly financial review packages to the Owner. You will ensure that on-site teams are maintaining accurate and timely financial records, including provision or coordination of training as needed in order to address challenges before they materially impact financial and / or operating performance.

Requirements

  • Ability to work more hours at peak times such as month, quarter and year-end
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required, Master’s Degree and / or CPA preferred
  • Very strong proficiency in MS Excel (pivot tables, look ups) required, ability to create or edit simple VBA macros preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with supervisors, subordinates, internal and external customers
  • Strong attention to detail required
  • Yardi experience preferred
  • Experience in Property Management industry preferred

  • Must be able to motivate self and team for work under pressure to meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude, providing exemplary customer service
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
  • Minimum five years of accounting experience desired
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds as well as sit for long periods of time
  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with Accounting Supervisor on daily review of General Ledger accounts (Operating Statement and Balance Sheet) to ensure the accuracy of posted activity
  • Meet with Regional Property Managers to review and post payable reclasses (weekly at a minimum)
  • Review daily reconciliation of disbursement accounts to ensure complete understanding of all transactions
  • Meet daily with Regional leadership and on-site teams to review key financial performance metrics and provide assistance with and supervision of on-site financial record keeping
  • Review and post monthly allocation of national and regional costs
  • Review monthly financial statements for necessary material expense accruals (landscaping, garbage collection, utilities, taxes)
  • Review posted rental income and management fees for reasonableness and accuracy
  • Review and submit draw requests and associated tracking and reconciliation schedules (including WIP analysis) and post related cash and WIP entries
  • Work with Regional leadership to prepare monthly explanations for material variances to expected financial and operational performance
  • Review and submit financial review packages (including variance explanations) and other financial schedules as may be required from time to time by the Owner
  • Review required quarterly reporting prepared by Property Accountants and submit to Owner
  • Coordinate and assist with annual financial statement audit
  • Coordinate annual budget file preparation
  • Identify and communicate process improvements for efficiency and better service to on-site teams
  • Other tasks as may be identified in the future or assigned as ad-hoc projects
