About The Position

At tkMNA, the main responsibilities of the Region NA IT Architecture Lead include managing, planning, analyzing, implementing, and delivering comprehensive architecture methodologies, frameworks, processes, reference models, portfolios and roadmaps for thyssenkrupp Materials North America landscapes. The Region NA IT Architecture Lead serves as a trusted advisor to business and technology teams defining and implementing technology architectures that drive business value, manage complexity, and accelerate harmonization of the IT assets. The Region NA IT Architecture Lead serves as the critical link between technical teams and business needs, responsible for analyzing requirements, crafting comprehensive architectural designs, and ensuring alignment with business objectives. This role encompasses technical leadership by guiding teams, making informed technology choices, and mitigating potential risks throughout solution lifecycles. The Region NA IT Architecture Lead proactively and holistically leads and supports EA activities that guide the development and management of a portfolio of solutions. Solutions include projects and products, systems (including applications, technologies, processes and information), shared infrastructure services and shared application services. They understand the concepts of business goals, objectives and business outcomes, business capabilities, value-streams and business processes and their importance in solution and enterprise architecture. The Architecture Lead provides the necessary leadership, analysis and design tasks related to support the development of technology solutions to ensure that solutions meet business needs and align with architectural governance and standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information assurance, MIS, or related field, or equivalent.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in managing, developing and optimizing IT solutions and vendor/partners, including more than 3 years of proven hands-on experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience creating roadmaps and developing business cases
  • Minimum 3 years of experience leading teams, facilitating client workshops and developing architecture recommendations
  • Minimum 3 years, comprehensive and demonstrable experience at an intermediate/expert level in: Business Architecture, Data and Information Architecture and Governance, Enterprise Architecture Operating Model, Enterprise Architecture Strategy and Planning, Enterprise IT Governance, Infrastructure and Cloud Architecture, Integration Architecture, Security Architecture, Solution and Application Architecture, Technology and Platforms.
  • Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies, platforms and processing environments
  • Good understanding of strategic and emerging technology trends, and the practical application of existing and emerging technologies to new and evolving business and operating models
  • Good understanding of product management, agile principles and development methodologies and capability of supporting agile teams by providing advice and guidance on opportunities, impact and risks, taking account of technical and architectural debt
  • Experience working in a relevant industry is helpful, but not required
  • Experience developing architecture blueprints, strategies and roadmaps
  • Experience delivering presentations to senior-level executives and technical audiences
  • Knowledge of business practices and technology implementation.
  • Skilled in organizing and prioritizing work of competing importance or deadlines.
  • Ability to develop and maintain working relationships and communicate effectively with a wide variety of individuals.
  • Accountable for analyzing information and developing ways to improve productivity and efficiency of current processes.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for planning, analysis and development of architecture methodologies, frameworks, models, and artifacts that represent business strategy, operations, services, processes, solutions, and technologies across multiple domains – 30%
  • Evaluate the technology portfolio and identify opportunities to reuse, replace, or modernize architectural components to drive strategic value
  • Assess the impact of business strategy on the architecture landscape, including organization, information, infrastructure, and applications
  • Identify and define leading enterprise architecture capabilities, roles, processes, and skills
  • Lead the creation of architecture blueprints and roadmaps for complex and large technology environments based on business models
  • Develop deep understanding of industry dynamics and the impact of technology trends to identify and formulate recommended changes to existing enterprise architectures
  • Lead large scale technology transformation to deliver business value through the evolution and management of enterprise architectures
  • Navigate through the Thyssenkrupp global network and leverage relevant expertise to develop enterprise architecture insights
  • Develop deep expertise and experience in Enterprise Architecture assets, frameworks, patterns, and governance
  • Lead aspects of the creation or evolution of the EA function, including the coordination of enterprise information systems, data, technical and solution architecture viewpoints across stakeholders, product owners and agile development teams through the Architecture Review Board – 25%
  • Establish an effective Architecture Review Board to assess, evaluate and approve architecture-related initiatives, along with setting, reviewing, and enforcing architectural standards and policies across the organization.
  • Ensure consistency across different architectural domains within the organization, such as data, application, and security architectures, and enforce compliance with the architectural standards, crucial for avoiding inefficiencies and security risks.
  • Understanding, advocating and supporting the enterprise's business and IT strategies
  • Leading the identification and analysis of enterprise business drivers to derive enterprise business, information, technical and solution architecture requirements; analyzing industry, technology and market trends to determine their potential impact on the enterprise
  • Analyzing the current business and IT environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement
  • Working within the Management Team to develop application strategies and project priorities.
  • Acts as a single point of contact (SPOC) for Enterprise Architecture in North America – 15%
  • Cultivate tkMNA IT’s role as a trusted advisor to business and technology leaders defining and implementing enterprise architectures that drive business value, manage complexity, and accelerate harmonization of the IT assets
  • Responsible for solutions in both public (Azure, GCP, AWS) and on-prem systems
  • Manage the day-to-day architecture design in our public & private cloud by monitoring solution configuration, maintenance, performance, and repair.
  • Plans and manages solution lifecycle revisions to host solutions and software.
  • Works with vendors to identify capability and quality improvements
  • Leading and facilitating the creation of governing principles to guide solution decision making for the enterprise
  • Ensuring that the optimal governance structure and compliance activities (such as handling waivers) are associated with EA compliance
  • Leading the development of an implementation plan for the EA, based on business requirements and IT strategies; overseeing EA implementation, ongoing EA refinement activities, and the documentation of all EA design and analysis work
  • Maintain operations policies & procedures; including security; disaster recovery; monitoring and customer communications
  • Partner with internal & external business owners on developing standards, application solution reviews, POCs and cloud migrations – 15%
  • Advise emerging technologies that should be integrated and/or introduced to ensure cloud computing capabilities respond to the needs of the business strategy.
  • Ensure systems security and compliance with SOC2, ISO, GDPR, FedRAMP, etc. to maintain the proper security posture.
  • Partner with risk and business continuity teams on Disaster Recovery plans and activities.
  • Accountable for making certain that projects are completed according to project specifications and that the appropriate activities and documentation are fulfilled satisfactorily.
  • Consulting with program/project teams to fit solutions to architecture across all viewpoints
  • Defining organizational requirements for the resources, structures and cultural changes necessary to support the EA
  • Responsible for full life cycle planning, solution design, architectural guidance and operational transition across multiple business and IT domains.

  • Manages and develops the architecture for a broader scope of projects or products, working closely with application architects that manage and design architecture for a single project or product or initiative
  • Develops a roadmap for the evolution of the enterprise solution portfolio from current to future state, as defined by the solutions architecture
  • Acts as a consultant on a broad range of technologies, platforms and vendor offerings to drive targeted business outcomes
  • Create architectural designs to guide and contextualize solution development across products, services, projects and systems, including applications, technologies, processes and information
  • Works closely with the program management office (PMO) or project management office to ensure the execution of plans corresponds with what is being promised throughout the project or product life cycle
  • Provides consulting support to application architects within agile teams to ensure the project or product is aligned with the overall enterprise architecture
  • Design, develop, and oversee implementation of end-to-end IT integrated systems.
  • Develop and execute test plans to check IT infrastructure and systems technical performance.
  • Report on findings and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Manages activities that take place during solution ideation, solution design, and solution implementation.
  • Communicates the architecture to the stakeholders and collaborates and coordinates with existing domain architects in the formalization and adoption of IT standards and procedures.
  • Champions a structured approach to business application solutions.
  • Directly assists in the development of a solutions architecture program including departmental roadmaps and project portfolios for IT systems architecture.
  • Assures solutions not only are a fit for the specific purpose but also closely align with the standards guidelines of technology solutions.
  • Directs the identification and recommendation of appropriate solutions, upgrades, replacements, or decommissioning options incorporating business and technology productivity, usability, and total cost of ownership.
  • Develops and executes solutions which further reduce the percentage of time spent on reactive work.
  • Provides analysis of security protection technologies as necessary.
