About The Position

The Reg Ultrasound/Echo Tech utilizes a diagnostic ultrasound machine to obtain the required two-dimensional and M-mode views of the cardiac anatomy. The technician measures the views that have been taken and puts results on paper for the physician to read by performing various duties related to cardiac imaging.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a Radiological Technology or Ultrasound Technology program approved by the American Medical Association.
  • Documentation of skills required to perform cardiac ultrasound exams; RDMS or Cardiovascular Credentialing International registry preferred.
  • Basic typing required.
  • Valid state credentials, when applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Operates the cardiac diagnostic ultrasound machine to obtain the required views, including two-dimensional mode, parasternal long axis view, parasternal short axis view, apical four chamber view, sub-costal views, and suprasternal views.
  • Performs color-flows and pulsed wave doppler testing.
  • Performs holter monitoring set up and preferably scanning.
  • Performs EKG's when necessary.
  • Assists with cardiac stress testing, either by running the stress equipment or taking blood pressures.
  • Performs other duties within cardiopulmonary services as qualified.
  • Follows policies and procedures for infection control and facility safety in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Presents oneself well-groomed and professional to staff and Medical Center personnel.
  • Participates in facility Quality Improvement/IOP programs as determined by supervisor.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
