Job Summary: Performs medical and clinical duties to assist providers in the Family Practice Center. Will be responsible for rooming patients and managing their flow from the front office to an exam room through discharge. Assists in the care of patients ensuring quality care, physical exams, injury care, radiology imaging and other medical services. Demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter with all patients, families, visitors and other employees regardless of cultural background.

  • Provide direct patient care and treatment.
  • Prepare patients to be examined by the physician by measuring and recording BP, pulse, temperature, respirations, height, weight, general history and current medication list.
  • Perform routine lab tests (UAs, strep screens, etc.) as ordered by physician.
  • Perform EKGs, injections, auditory and visual screenings, spirometry, administer medications and record results as ordered by the physician.
  • Document all clinical findings and patient response to interventions.
  • Provide test results to physicians when available.
  • Provide patient care and clinical support to physician during exam.
  • Assist physicians with procedures by preparing the patient and setting up the room and instruments needed for the procedure.
  • Responsible for daily inventory of exam rooms and work areas.
  • Discard and report any outdated or expired supplies to supervisor.
  • Clean and disinfect exam rooms.
  • Report equipment malfunction to supervisor.
  • Assist with completion of referrals, outpatient testing, pre-certification and scheduling.
  • Participate in PI studies.
  • Perform in-office x-rays as ordered by the physicians.
  • Maintain skills/competency of radiology task and demonstrate these for the site supervisor.
  • Operate digital equipment and monitor.
  • Practice ALARA and patient shielding as necessary.
  • Handle patient phone calls and inquiries for clinical staff.
  • Follow-up or direct all unresolved patient concerns to supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Return all patient calls/voicemails within one business day.
  • Perform daily quality control checks and calibrations on equipment.
  • Document all calibration records.
  • Maintain CPR certification.
  • Complete annual skills, competency checks and annual radiology testing.
  • Successfully complete an orientation process that identifies skills to practice in position assignment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Registered by ARRT.
  • Licensed to practice in the state where work is being performed.
  • Maintain full compliance with all continuing education requirements for license and registration.
  • Excellent customer service/communication skills.
  • Ability to organize time and tasks.
  • Demonstrated competency in routine radiography.
  • One year of experience performing x-rays in a physician’s office, hospital or occupational health center.
  • Relevant clinical experience in a related medical setting.
