About The Position

To operate and maintain a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanner to obtain images on patients to diagnose the nature and extent of designated pathologies, while ensuring patient safety and comfort.

Requirements

• Graduate of a Radiologic Technology Program accredited by a mechanism acceptable to the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) or other program acceptable to meet ARRT REGISTRATION requirements.
• ARRT-Radiography
• ARRT-Magnetic Resonance Imaging
• Mississippi Medical Radiology Technician license
• Basic Life Support required
• Knowledge of magnetic resonance imaging procedures and technology.
• Knowledge of specifications, standards, and tolerances for the operation of MRI equipment and facilities.
• Skill in the operation of magnetic resonance film processors and ancillary equipment.
• Verbal and written communication skills.
• Interpersonal skills.
• Ability to monitor and/or maintain quality control standards.
• Ability to alleviate patient anxiety.

Responsibilities

• Performs magnetic resonance imaging procedures.
• Explains procedures to patient, obtains and records medical history relevant to the condition being viewed, selects appropriate equipment settings, and positions the patient in a manner to facilitate optimum imaging results.
• Develops and views images to determine quality and forwards for review and interpretation; maintains applicable patient documentation.
• Maintains adequate supplies and a clean work area; reports equipment malfunctions to supervisor.
• Assumes responsibility for patient safety; provides physical and psychological comfort to patient.
• Ensures compliance with workplace safety, environmental, exposure control, and/or infection control practices.
