About The Position

A refuse collector is responsible for collecting and removing waste, refuse or garbage, and other, recyclable materials for further processing. This may entail operating waste collection vehicles, operating,a designated route, collecting refuse, and reporting any issues that may arise to supervisors or management.

Requirements

• High School/GED, 1+ years, performs general tasks and completes routine, assignments.
• Token or CAC eligible and/or able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC)
• Must have two (2) years of experience as an equipment operator
• Host Country Driver's License is required
• Climbing. Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized. This factor is important if the amount and kind of Climbing required exceeds that required for ordinary locomotion.

Responsibilities

• Ensures that trucks are inspected before beginning routes to guarantee safe operating conditions.
• Ensures that garbage trucks have enough fuel to run for the day and adding other, necessary fluids such as oil
• Driving back to disposal sites to empty garbage trucks that have been filled.
• Staying updated and informed on road and weather conditions to determine how routes, may be affected.
• Driving trucks along established routes such as residential streets and alleys, or business and industrial areas
• Communicating with dispatchers on issues regarding delays, unsafe sites, equipment breakdowns, accidents, or any other maintenance issues
• Operating automated or semi-automated hoisting devices that assist in raising refuse, bins and dumping garbage into the relevant openings in truck bodies,
• Crushing refuse or garbage collected.
• Other duties as assigned
