About The Position

The Refuse Collector Trainee position is a temporary role within the Utilities Department, aimed at training individuals to operate various motorized equipment and perform manual labor tasks related to refuse collection. The position includes participation in Commercial Driver's License (CDL) training with the goal of obtaining a CDL. The role involves both essential and ancillary functions that contribute to the overall maintenance and cleanliness of the facility and its grounds.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
• Ability to successfully complete CDL training and obtain CDL license within 6 months of hire.
• Ability to obtain and maintain DOT medical certification.

Responsibilities

• Participate in CDL training.
• Perform manual work collecting refuse and recycling.
• Operate a variety of commercial refuse collection vehicles.
• Perform manual labor.
• Perform custodial tasks in the general housekeeping of the facility, including sweeping and cleaning floors.
• Maintain appearance of facility grounds by clearing debris and sweeping curbs/walkways.
• Maintain work unit files and records.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
